What is the most annoying question (and the most common one) you get asked if you tell someone you are tracing your family tree?

Mine is 'how far have you got back?'

The most intelligent, I thought, was 'Is it accurate?'

I don't tell anyone now!

Nearly everyone asks me if I've found anybody famous, or infamous! I did find a witch in my family lol, but it is annoying 'cos anyone who knows me would already know if I had a famous ancestor 'cos I'd have told everyone!!

I've got a murderer. He got away with it (it was a Manslaughter charge)

I'd love a witch but not if the poor lass was burned at the stake!

Can't find out if Phoebe was burned at the stake. She used plants and herbs as medicines apparantly, and she had a fleck in one eye.

My red haired niece has odd eyes! One hazel, one green.

I had red hair though it's faded now. I have two red haired daughters and my mother's family were 'gingers'.

My sister (a sceptic) asks me 'How do you know?'
I show her the certificates.
Then she asks 'But what about before they had to be registered?'
This is the same woman who was with me when we looked through the parish records (copies still held in the Small Suffolk church) of the Cattermole family- and she saw with her own eyes how the name Cattermole changed over 200 years from Kackermoulle!
There was no other surname with such a difference in spelling, but such similarity in pronounciation- go on - try it with a Suffolk accent!!

The most annoying used to be "Why ?"
Lately the most common thing I hear is I would love to do mine but wouldn't know where to start OR can you do mine please.

Yes alright I'll just dash it off in the next few weeks !! Some can't understand how long it can take to trawl. After sayng that I am doing the ground work for 2 people.

Most people who know me know better than to ask about genealogy UNLESS they are really interested in the answer.

What for?........who cares.
Oh, how nice;.....no interest.
Really? how interesting......liar
Any money?......none
How many convicts?.......none
Any titles or estates?........none
I'd like a copy when you've finished it please..........do your own!

Why do you pay for everything, its ALL free on the internet.
