When you don't get the whistles.........you know you've hit the wrong age !!

After a certain age you become "invisible" to younger people, which can be fun on a crowded high street!

You do stop caring what people think about you and if you do nutty things occasionally (or frequently) people just roll their eyes and assume it's the hormones. You can use the "I'm menopausal / post menopausal" line from early 40s onwards - I've kept that line going for 10 years now (I'm 52). I say "I'm post menopausal please excuse my bad memory / bad hearing / yawning / daftness" or whatever - and people DO! Amazing.

I just knew you would be the ones to ask.

Thank you. I had not even been off on some of those tangents. Well done!!

She's not 40, she's a recycled teenager.

Also, she must not let the broad mind and the narrow waist swop places as so many do when they get to a .......ahem .......certain age.

40 is good. You are still young, but you have the flair and confidence that you didn't have when you were younger. You start not to care what people think of you any more so it is fun to get up to all those things you always wanted to but didn't dare.

I have a friend who is about to turn 40. I wish to present her with a list of handy hints that will propel her over this milestone in her life. I've forgotten what it was like to be that young!!! So long ago!!

There are no correct answers, let your imagination run wild!!!

So let's start. I surveyed a group of people (who just happen to be very good at this) and asked them the question, "What advice would you give to a woman who is about to turn forty?"
