A former Coronation Street actor who has found a new career as a cheesemaker will be visiting Jarrold's in Norwich.

Sean Wilson, who was on the soap for 20 years as the character Martin Platt, has since formed the Saddleworth Cheese Company, which makes award-winning cheeses in Lancashire. Jarrold is holding a Christmas customer evening on Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm and Mr Wilson will be taking part. His cheeses will be available to sample and purchase all evening in the deli.

I might go along to that and try the cheese lol

Actually one of the most surreal experiences in my life happened during a trip to England in 1990 when my brother died.

For various reasons, it was 10 days before my sis-in-law could go and file for the death certificate.

I went with her to the Office in Manchester, and while she was dealing with the clerk I stood at the window looking down at this very familiar streetscape.

Couldn't figure out why it was familiar, then realised it was

The Rovers Return and Coronation Street!

The last time I watched Coronation Street in mid-1967, just before I left the UK!

Hi Sylvia,

That must have been a bit spooky to realise you were looking at the Corrie set. It's a bit like meeting someone, knowing you recognise them and not remembering how, saying hello and then realising it's an actor off the tv or something.
I almost said hello to a chap walking along a street in Norwich, just stopped myself at the last minute when I realised it was Howard from the Halifax ads lol
Or you meet someone who you normally only see wearing a uniform, like a dental nurse or someone lol

it was indeed a bit spooky!!!

OH was actually at the same school as Bill Roache ........... Roache was doing an extra term before going off to do his National Service, and OH was a "new" boy

He's always said that Roache was a very kind friendly big boy who took notice of the young ones.

I hate it when I see a familiar face on the street ...... but then can't put a name to them.

Hi Sylvia, how interesting that your o.h. knew Bill Roache when they were at school. He always seems a decent chap. Sadly his wife died suddenly not so long back which must have been a very sad shock to him and their children.

Liz

I hadn't heard that. That's very sad.

OH bought Bill Roache's book not long ago .............. mainly to see what was said about their mutual school.
