I was asked to fill in a questionnaire at my local library when I returned my books.

Did I find the selection of books to be adequate....1 for poor - 5 for excellent and so on through building, condition of books, service, access - both for those with disabilities and for computer use. All good questions......so why at the end did they want to know if I was 'gay' ????????

Perhaps they want to know if they are catering for all 'minorities'? Although why ones sexuality should matter, I've no idea.

I would have thought the language selection of books would be more appropriate - Urdu, Polish or whatever as well as the genre.

Maybe they wanted to know whether to have the 'pink' paper available!!

Seems a bit intrusive to me. I'd probably reply - 'Not at the moment - probably something to do with this irrelevant queston!

That is a most inappropriate question!

I would be inclined to laugh but I would certainly not answer it!

Because they can be 'taken to book' (sorry) for any breach of access to all sectors of society.

The have to account for all their members tastes and if a higher percentage of gay folks join they would have to reassess which books they rotate.

They've just spent a fortune on 'improvements' to our library.

We now have some comfy modern chairs and new flooring.

I wish they'd spent the money on books as I find the selection very poor!

Dear Crispen

Hello

No idea why they wanted to know this.

I have posted a few threads about employers, public services, etc wanting to get hold of personal info.

Goodness knows what they do with it.

They should mind their own business.

Maybe political correctness gone potty!

Best wishes
