am still fuming blinking banks.

What do the people behind the tills get paid for?
Went in today with hubby and wanted to
a) pay cheque in
b)take money out same account
c) move money from his cash isa onto credit card to payit off a bit.

a and b no problem get to c and told they dont do that over the counter had to use machine in foyer. Now hubby didnt have his card with him and you might as well be talking double dutch as hubby hates machines
He did it in the end but took him ages only had to transfer money then pay card but seemed he couldnt quite grasp it.

Surely its our money and if we want to use a clerk instead of a machine we s hould be able to.

Sorry rant over

Know exactly what you mean Dawnie, we've got a clerk in our branch who looks down her nose and directs you to the machine, now I'm ok with them but OH has trouble just turning the telly on so he's got no chance. I wonder if she stops to think that if everyone used the machines she'd be out of a job

I have the same problem at the abbey. I deliberatey ripped up the card and pin number as I don't want immediate access to the account. If I have to go into town and queue up then it gives me a cooling off period where ..like as not I'll talk myself out of withdrawing the cash lol.

I stand my ground too......as you say.....it's your money and the customer is always right !!! xx

You should do what I do love, politely ask to see the organ grinder, you would be amazed how quickly they help then.

Love, Annina in her new guise.

My bank here in Canada went through a phase of that some years ago ..... every time I went to get money out or pay a bill one certain teller would say "It's much better and faster if you use the machine"

I finally told her that might well be ..... but I preferred to deal with a real person and would continue to do so.

She stopped telling me to do that, and has in fact become very friendly.

So ....... just stand your ground, and say "But I do not want to do that. I want to do it at the counter"

We had trouble with banks not allowing signatures on card accounts, but wanting passwords. OH cant handle that, so we shopped around and found NW, who allow him to withdraw with a signature and are quite prepared for me to handle all the banking without asking if OH is with me before they will divulge anything. It was My account in the beginning, and I put OH on it! Some banks wont deal with the wife.

You should try paying money into a Children's Trust Account......after a false start by going into a bank (stupid I know - why try banking money at a bank?) I found that it had to be done online. No problem - set up a one off Direct Debit to cover a Birthday gift and a Christmas present for our Grand daughter. Got a letter of confirmation dated 27th October - money would be taken from our account ON THE 9th DECEMBER. Two days later I got another letter of confirmation so called them - they checked - only one amount will be taken........but I thought I would ask why it was taking 6 weeks......he rambled on about 13 working days and other problems - in this day and age of internet banking it beggars belief
