I have, Ann - and resent it!!!
However, I now have a cunning ploy.
Since finding out 2 years ago that I only have 1 kidney, if asked this question by the receptionist, I say I have a pain in my lower left back where my one and only kidney (called Kevin) resides. Amazingly I get an appointment - no questions asked!
I take in a urine sample, doc does a quick check (no harm in making sure kev's okay) - then get on with why I'm there!
On my way out, I ask said nosey receptionist for another urine sample bottle!!

*Would like to point out that I rarely visit the doctor, don't like 'wasting' appointments and he usually has to tell me when I'm due for a check up.*

I have never been asked why I want an appointment when I phone for one.

I have been off sick, and on Sunday felt really rough - temperature going up & down, coughing, aching etc.- most of the symptoms of flu.
I did the online swine flu pandemic questonnaire - and was given a reference number to get Tamiflu!
I was told I had swine flu with 'underlying health problems'!
Fortunately I ignored it.

What I had was a sinus infection that had spread, via my throat (also infected) to my lungs, and possibly a slight kidney infection - bit dodgy when you've only got the one.

Obviously the chest infection etc are my 'underlying health problems' - you know, what they say when someone dies of flu. My kidney is usually extremely healthy and only likely to cause problems if infections are ignored and I take notice of stupid questionnaires.

I'm okay now - but thank god I went to the doctor!

msc, I suggest your brother phnes the doctor again and doesn't actually state what's wrong with him!

hi rita thank you for your reply they did not say to him to that they could not fit him in just go to the chemist to pick up tamiflu tablet,s. i hve advised him to change his doctors .

he has not any other symton,s told him not to take it if he still had a sore throat in a few day,s get the doctor to visit him at home. thats what i would do. as the doctor,s is a long walk from him he is not up to the walk.

If he had no temperature with sore throat,there would be no need for tamiflu.

it seem,s they are taking the easy option as i said he only had a sore throat no other symtoms.

I thought there had to be so many symptoms before having Tamiflu.

he is not with it at the moment and his partner is flipping useless has not got a caring bone in her body. she only think,s of her self.

Could it be the receptionist there thinking she is in fact the doctor.

I feel it has nothing to do with the receptionist what you want to see the doctor for, or what is wrong with you, its not her business, she should only make you a booking to see your doctor, not give medical advice.

why is it when you ring the doctors and say you have a sore throat they say it,s swine flu and sent you to the chemist,s to get tamiflu. this happened to my brother who has cancer . is it that they cant be botherd to see you ? or do they not care any more for the people who have a serious illness now.? he took some lemsip for a few day,s and is ok now.
