my fitted bedroom is out of guarantee and all the vinyl coverings are coming off. I have been back to the shop and they say it is a world wide problem. yesterday they said it was the glue ,today they say they dont know what the problem is and that i should not have been told it was the glue. they have offered to replace at trade price but that is three quarters of the original price and we cannot afford it. I have phoned 10 local bedroom fitters and none have had this problem so i wondered if any one had heard about it . |

We have two fitted bedrooms but they were done before we moved here in 1992. We have no problems other than a few of the door hinges dropping. |

I'm no expert but I read somewhere (Martins Money saving tips perhaps) that any item had to be 'fit for purpose' for at least 6 years. |

I tried cooking Birdi but i keep eating it and my waistline does not like it so given that one up. i have been on and off of work since march. my job is still there but only when work comes in so i do not know from day to day if i am in work but the summer has been good as i like to potter in the garden. |

Tell them you are going to the press about it. They dont like things against them in the paper. |

I have thought of that Marion but i am a bit of a coward until i know i have a leg to stand on. i did ask why it had not been in the papers or the internet if it was a world wide problem and not just theirs but did not get a staight answer. the manager told me to do what i pleased when i said i was taking it further |

CAB then might be your best bet. Or write to the company direct. |

its a family buisness marion and has been in buisness since 1987. they say they cannot afford to do it for free which i did not expect and i have offered to pay a third of the original price.but they are sticking with the price they have offered. i have made a appointment with CAB for next week. the firms i have contacted to confirm the problem have all said they have not heard of any such problem and as they have 10 year gaurantees i think they would have done so if it was world wide as i have been told. |

You could always threaten them with the small claims court for a refund. But that would then mean getting somebody else to do the job. |

See what CAB say. Small buisness or they shouldn't sell rubbish. |

i must just add i spoke to the owners son yesterday and he told me all kind of reasons why they could not help and because he had told me it was a glue failure i ask what kind of glue it was and the firms name he then said the glue firm had gone bust because of this problem so they had no one to hold responsable. today its not the glue and he had only been working there 2 months and should not have spoken to me. As they make the furniture in their own factory i would have thought they would have insurance for problems arising, also as i work (when i am in work in the shop fitting trade I have done a search and can find no trace of a company going down but as they are now back tracking from glue it does not matter. the son also said at the time that the glue used was a E.U. regulation so they could not use their normal glue. This again must have been waffle as it is not true. |

It is a 'world wide problem' and it includes our kitchen but we were told that it was caused by heat. |
