Had a huge (neutered) killling machine of a tom a few years back called Basil.
I found a mouse under the freezer - caught it and threw it out with Basil.
We had a cat-flap which Basil would bang so we'd open the door.
Next morning, Basil 'knocked' on the cat flap. I opened the door to find both Basil and (live) mouse waiting on the doorstep to come in!!

I can only assume the mouse smelt of 'us' - and Basil wasn't allowed to attack the children's hamsters, rats etc that also smelt of 'us'.

Oh gosh - I feel smug!!
My 3 bring in all sorts - Mr Miu the mice (which he eats, so I'm left with spine, tail & liver - in the kitchen)
George brings in the rats and birds (not too happy with him plucking them on the stairs) - but all trophies are DEAD!!

Betty does sometimes bring in her trophies alive - but frogs and moths - I can cope with! LOL I even save the frogs!
