Had to take OH for a checkup at the doctors this afternoon. For us, this means a trip using two buses. On the second bus, there was standing room only, and although Hagar doesn't walk well, and was limping badly, not one person offered him their seat.

Suddenly, the bus driver braked sharply. A car had stopped in front of him but by his own admission he wasnt' paying attention, and almost shunted him.

Hagar, still hanging on to the pole, spun round, smacked his face into the pole, then fell onto the back of an elderly lady in the seat in front, who herself had been shunted forward when the bus braked.

He sprained his thumb, has a bruised jaw, a split lip, though he only noticed that after he got home, and for a couple of minutes was seeing stars. I had to pull him off the other lady, and he's quite a weight. Both were shook up but otherwise OK.

The driver did apologise, and was honest about what had happened, I'll give him that.

I hate the buses round here, I really do. It's not the first time something like that has happened, and they have had to pay out compensation several times before. Fortunately Neither Hagar or the other lady were hurt, but they could have been.

I'd be inclined to send a swift letter to the bus company TW. anyhow regardless of the fact that no one was seriously hurt.

That's really not on hon x

Yes it was, fortunately LOL

Funny thing was, we caught the same bus coming back. The driver made sure Hagar was sat down before driving off, and kept apologising.

I'm thinking of doing that Muffy. This is First buses, and they do have a bad reputation in Norwich.

We do have another bus company, and there is world of difference. Their buses are always clean, spotless in fact, they never pull away sharply, always wait until everyone is seated, and are always polited and friendly, and cheaper than First. Sadly they only run a couple of routes here, one of them on my road to the city centre. So to go to the doctors, we have to use first day tickets.

Did you tell the Dr he may have a concussion?

Of course hun, he's fine, right as rain, he was just a bit dazed with clobbering his jaw on the pole. I'm keeping an eye on him, it's been four hours now, no sign of concussion at all. (I'm a first aider, and have dealt with concussion)

I said to the elderly lady, 'It's not every day you get a man landing in your lap is it?'

I would actually write to the bus company even though there appears to be no damage. If it is in writing and (I hope it wont), something manifests itself later that can be connected, the bus company and you will have it in writing. Like it should go in the accident book but you know it wont!!!
