My daughter passed this recipe on to me. I haven't tried it yet so don't have exact quantities/ oven temps.

I block of puff pastry
mincemeat
slivered almonds
beaten egg
sugar

Roll out pastry to make an oblong shape. Spread with mincemeat and roll up the longest edge to make a 'swiss roll' shape. Cut into about 12 slices and lay on greased greaseproof paper. Brush with beaten egg; sprinkle with sugar and almonds. Bake at 180 degreees. Not sure how long; about 10 mins?

That sounds heaps better than faffing about greasing tins, cutting out pastry ect,I think I will try that.

I have long been making mine in an oblong roly poly tin,and cutting into squares.

I can't stand making regular mince pies and the supermarket ones are usually awful but I think these could turn out a little like Danish Pastries.

I'm going to have a 'family day' just before or after Christmas as we are away at another daughter's for Christmas itself.

I made these this morning and my husband and daughter both loved them, although I think I rather overdid the filling!!

Val, can you tell us oven temp you used and cooking time please?

Valerie

I baked them for 10 minutes at 180 degrees celsius, but they were not browning so I turned the heat up to 200 for about 4 minutes.
I think I will try them again next week at 200 celsius for 10 minutes. I will let you know how it goes.

Glad you made them and they were a success, Val.

I have made a note of the oven temp/time you used as I haven't tried them yet.
