It's probably Step Son

RB, sometimes the stepchildren are known as the son or daughter in law.... I had one described so, but I knew she was from a previous marriage.

Mind.... my gt gt grandfather was transcribed as head of house, with a wife of 36 and half a dozen children... and him supposedly aged 18, lolol ;¬)) He was 38, in fact.

Good luck!

Love

The son in law is the husband of the daughter. I think 6 is a bit below legal marrying age.

Check that the entries in that column are not one line out of place. I had a census the other day where all the occupations were written on the wrong line. The 5 year old had a job and the head of the house was a seamstress, or something like that. When I move the occupations up one spot everything fell into place.

The relationship of son-in-law and stepson were interchangeable in those days. If he was only 6 then he will be a step son.

I had the other day a census transcription of two sons' unfortunately the transcriber had read the check mark as a 10 making a 7 year old and a 9 year old ten years older than actual..............17 and 19

also they had confused the fact that the daughter was there and HER three daughters were attributed to the grandparents......

got it rectified though......
