How would i find out when Sarah Ellen English nee Gray died and also her husband James phillip English.

There are my grandfathers parents and he cant remember were they are buried or when they died. He does remember them being buried in Harton Cemertary in South Shields? He is in his late 80s and wants to visit the grave before he dies he says

Hope someone can help

oh thats so sad, bless him

you should be able to find out from the cemetary records,
they keep um , where the plot is,
and sometimes take you to it, they are usually very helpful

well in this area they are anyway,
i hope you find it for him

You probably need to give the date of death before they can trace the grave, at least that is what I had to do. Have you any idea of the time scale in which to look?

This website is still under construction. Last updated 24/02/07
This resource has been provided free by JOHN BAGE and is intended to assist those engaged in researching the family history of their relatives buried at Harton Cemetery in graves which have a M.I.
More detailed information can be obtained from the South Tyneside Cemetery Office via the link at the bottom of this page.
My main BAGE, CLASPER, DAWSON and MORRISON Family History website is at; www.johnbage.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
I also have a website for the South Shields Shipyard of John Readhead & Sons at;- http://www.communigate.co.uk/ne/readhead/
Family History Help is at;- http://www.thisisthenortheast.co.uk/the_north_east/history/family/johnbage/index.html

HARTON CEMETERY;-
Many of the gravestones at Harton Cemetery in South Shields, Tyne & Wear are showing signs of weathering so it was decided to produce a photographic database of the Inscriptions so that they would not be lost completely and the Inscriptions would thus be available to those researching their family history.

There are other 'English' recorded in some of the sections so worth looking I scanned very quickly.

ask the church where the cemetary is,
they keep records,

my uncle died at the age of 5 back in the 1930smaybe 40s, thinking of age now,
my daughter didnt have dates just round a bout year but went up to cemetary and asked, and a kind man there showed her too where the grave was, and it was just a small plot , no marking, nothing

Shieldsman Report 25 Nov 2009 21:49

Thanks so much for your assistance guys

Think this may be his father as his wife was called Jenny.

However his son (my grandards dad) had the same name but his wife was sarah ellen English?
