All I will say is that I would highly recommend the prostate biopsy to my worst enemy.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Dec 2009 20:53

BrianW

BrianW Report 14 Dec 2009 21:20

The result should be three to four weeks.

Hmmmmmm.........
Not so good.
Went back to the hospital yesterday and the biopsy showed early signs.
So now for an MRI scan, discuss treatment options and a lot of sick leave, probably from end March/ beginning April.

Sounds like it's been caught relatively early though.
Annoying thing is that after a previous consultation several years ago apparently I should have had regular PSA tests, but they weren't set up.

Which is why I reckon all men over 50 should be on a screening programme, regardless of whether they show symptoms or not.

One of our neighbours had this treatment about three years ago, and is fine, despite generally poor health heart and breathing wise. Hope they dont keep you hanging about too long before starting the treatment.

It sounds as if it has been caught early Brian so all the best with the treatment. 2 of our friends had similar results with it being caught early and both are fine now. I don't know what treatment they had altogether although I know one had radiotherapy.

Well I've let everybody at work know and they've all been very nice.

Not having exact dates yet means we can't make arrangements for cover yet.

Well, there I was ringing the church bells for the Sunday morning service and my mobile phone rings (fortunately while between "methods").

It's the OH saying the hospital have rung to say they can fit me in today as they've got an extra session going.

So I left them to ring only five bells out of six, got up to the hospital and got the MRI scan done.

So that's another stage out of the way.

This seems to be a timely reminder, to sort out my kit and little bag and send of a sample!

I got mine before Christmas, but too much going on to even read the instructions properly.

Now, where did I put everything?

P.S. And Good Luck Brian

Good luck Brian, hope all goes well when you get the procedure done.

I did my test kit and it came back ok again, second test since I was 60, now I have to remember to chase up my mammogram and also get my smear test done, that's way overdue. Isn't it a shame we can't get everything done in one visit instead of the way things are now, so you can easily miss a checkup.

Don't leave your test kits in the envelope, they are quick and easy to do and might make a big difference to your life if you don't bother with them.

I made the appointment for my mammogram last week ..................... for May 29.

I have to have it every year, it's a diagnostic mammogram not a screening one, 'cos I'm a breast cancer survivor.

Now all I have to remember to do is go to the doctor and ask for a referral form before May 29!
