Physio therapy

Went to the physiotherapy clinic this morning about my back pain since my fall. She tells me that the area I hurt is one of the most difficult to improve, and will eventually try ultrasound and acupuncture. She had to take a full medical history, and by the time she had covered 2 sheets of paper she had only a quarter of an hour to examine me! She did say that I need to rest on the bed in the afternoon with either a hot or freezing bottle on the painful site. Now what better advice during the horrible weather we are having! Trouble being if I go to sleep it will be teatime before I wake up!

Good luck, Jean

I don't think you will regret it.

I have a bad back (spinal degeneration due ot osteoarthritis), and have been going to physio every 3-4 weeks since 1997.

I swear that it is the only reason that I am still able to walk.

It isn't covered by medical insurance over here ........... our private insurance will pay a maximum of $250 a year for physio. As each treatment costs $55 .............. that doesn't go very far!! I had several acupunture treatments this summer, and they combined with ultrasound and manipulation cost $75 a session.

My medical costs are high!

Fortunately, if everything that the extended insurance doesn't cover totals more than 3% of OH's income, we can claim it on his income tax!

And that reduces the income tax he has to pay!

I don't pay income tax 'cos my income is too low.

Jean, it will be worth it if you get that back of yours better, can you not set an alarm so you have an hour and no more, will do you good and by then the hot bottle will be cooling unless you use one of those wheat ones that you put in the microwave, which won't feel so yukky when the heat's worn off. Did you tell her what to do with her freezing bag! Ugh, the very thought is sending shivers up my spine.

Hope you feel better soon and that you Sylvia, can stay mobile as long as possible.

I am finding her advice helpful. I followd instructions to rest with heat bag, definitely Not ice pack! and slept on an ordinary pillow instead of a sponge ring which is harder. Had a good night and back didnt start to ache until mid day, which is a great improvement.
