I have reason to believe a relation went to prison around 1923 - 30 for 9 months.

can someone tell me how I go about finging the reasons.

I only have the name, approximate date, and London area.

Try googling his name and area

contact the library local to the cirme and see if they can find a newspaper report of the trial. (they may make a charge for this)

edit - what (name removed as has the post) means is that people who do look ups are more likely to see your thread there ie TTF, Records, Tips

2nd edit - the removed post wasn't at all 'nasty'!

Personally if I see queries like this, and someone suggests where Peter can look for himself for the information, I would be happy to see it here in case I ever need to know the same thing.

Thank you to each who replied, even no. 2 who has been deleted, little sharp, but I got the message.

Must admit that I assumed the ‘Trying to find’ was thread for looking for people, and that ‘General’ meant just that a general enquiry!
