can anyone tell me if the name Job is a nick name or a shortened version of a name? I have a relative called Job Roe b. 1844 but can't find any records for him..

Lot is another Biblical name - from the Old Testament, Abraham's nephew. I have a Lot Free in my husband's tree.

It was, Ann. When Lot and his wife were fleeing Sodom, his wife looked back on Sodom and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Hi Jane, the name Job rhymes with lobe (as in ear lobe).

It is not pronounced job (as in work)

While searching for chilrden of James and Barbra I found a son -

Zorobabel ! Another name from the Bible. As it turns out, NOT one of my rellies.

For what it's worth I had a Job on two census then on two he was Joseph!
