Typical, you get a lovely song stuck in your head & I get this one:

Father Christmas he got stuck! (tune = Frere Jacques)

Father Christmas, Father Christmas
He got stuck, He got stuck
Coming down the chimney, coming down the chimney
What bad luck, what bad luck

Snowman saw him, Snowman saw him
Pulled him out, pulled him out
Wasn’t that a good thing, wasn’t that a good thing
Hear us shout, hear us shout
HOORAY

You are correct, it was a chess game. Don't know how I arrived at the idea of food. Few more brain cells gone!!

LOL I guess that the McQueen Chess scene is " arousing"..LOL

but I prefer the Duo Discus Gliding sequence from the Brosnan one.......

And doesn't it fit the end of the film beautifully. It almost says more than what is on the screen.

I much prefer the Steve McQueen version. I love the scenes with the two of them eating the meal. Whoo hooo!!

Noel Harrison, son of Rex, recorded the song for the film and made it into a hit song. There is also something unusual about how the song is put together, but I just can't quite remember.

What on earth is wrong with my cursor. It is bouncing all over the place and I can type faster than it can lay down the letters.

Like a circle in a spiral,
like a wheel within a wheel,
Never ending or beginning inan ever spinning reel,
Like a snowball down a mountain,
or a carnival balloon,
Like a carousel thats spinning running rings around the moon,

like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face,
The world is like an apple whirling silently in space,
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!

Like a tunnel you discover has a tunnel of its own,
From a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone,
Like a door that keeps revolving in a half forgotten dream,
or the ripples from a pebble
someone tosses in a stream

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping...

keys that jingle in your pocket, words that jangle in your head,
why did summer go so quickly, was it something that you said?
Lovers walk along the shore and leave their footprints in the sand,
is the sound of distant drumming just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in the hallway and the fragment of this song,
half remembered names and faces but to whom do they belong?

When you knew that it was over, you were suddenly aware,
that the autumn leaves were turning to the color of her hair!

When you knew that it was over, in the autumn of goodbyes,
for a moment you could not recall the color of his eyes!

Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel,
Never ending or beginning on an ever spiining reel,
as the images unwind, like the circles that you find,
in the windmills of your mind!
