Hi all: Yes, tried other restore points without success. I also lost Paint Shop Pro and a couple of kids' games which are now back after inserting the discs. Reinstalling FTM just gives me the bare bones of the programme, all my input is still missing. I'm afraid I'm very lax at backing up (ever the optimist!). Thank goodness for my card system.
I must thank you all for your suggestions and will post if I ever manage to solve the problem.

Hi Lozzielou,
I don't know if it will help, but it's worth a try.

Go to Start, then Search (mine shows with a magnifying glass icon alongside) select All files and folders, then type Family tree maker in the top box.
All the references to FTM should show up.

Hope it helps,
Good luck,
Mayfield.

Have you tried taking your system restore to a point further back than the last restore point?

Oh dear, that doesn't sound very good.

Have you lost anything else?

Also, have you done any back ups and do you have the FTM disc?

Thank you all. If I double click the icon there is a very quick flash of a small black screen, then nothing!
Yes, I have looked in the recycle bin, no sign of it there.
Any more ideas please, I'll try anything.

Please, is there anybody out there who can help. My Family Tree Maker file has completely disappeared from my computer - only the shortcut icon is left on the desktop! Tried System Restore (XP) but still nothing. Where has it gone: how do I retrieve it? Please help.
