We were both tempted to do that but thank goodness we changed our minds :-D :-D

You did the right thing thank goodness, I think hubby would have thrown a lot away because it is easier than sorting it out.

LaGooner Report 23 Jan 2022 23:19

Well worth the sorting and lucky we did not just shred it all without looking. It was in an old suitcase that we got from clearing MIL's house and never got round to looking through.

We also found a marriage certificate and a birth and death certificate amongst the pile of old papers and loads of interesting little bits to keep with the FH stuff :-D

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 23 Jan 2022 23:05

Oh I think I have made a bit of a dent with mine but will bite the bullet and send for the certificate just to be certain.

No they are all long since gone. Father in law was the last one that I know of.It was very complicated with 4 trusts set up and money and property passing down the family over many years

Shocking stealing from the deceased, I wish you luck on that, are the "beneficiaries" still living?

This is details of a will which is proving very interesting reading. I am now down to just one word I cannot make out. :-D. We are horrified just what money was taken from the estate by solicitors(family members) and trustees (also family members)

ZZzzz Report 23 Jan 2022 22:33

In my jottings there is a name, year of marriage and where it took place and even the numbers to order the certificate but not who she married grrrr.

I am trying to transcribe a handwritten piece of family history penned by my father in law which we found in a box of old papers. I now have only 2 words I cannot make out.
