and I recognise my daughter's number, my first thought is "what's wrong?"

Mam (she gulps, tearfully)....... breath caught in throat.....

[Oh, no - something's gone majorly wrong]

Me: calm down, there's nothing broken that can't be fixed

Dr: oh mam, it's terrible. You can't fix this

[she's lost her job. her husband's gone off with another woman. her house's burned down. she's seriously overdrawn. Oh no, she's heard from her dad. ]

Me: take it slowly. Whatever it is, we can work it out







Dr: I've found a grey hair...........

You couldn't be more wrong! I tried this "it's not serious" tack - but apparently, it is.

Plus - "even you don't have any grey hairs, mam"

What does she know - come to that, what do I know? Neither one of us has seen the true colour of my hair for years and years.

Well Sue.....you will just have to gently explain to her the glories of a box of hair dye..........lol

I've got quite a collection of grey hairs now but I'm looking forward to being a " silver fox " ........I can't be doing with all that girlie fuss.......lol
