	The sale of gr has been halted by the office of fair trading OFT said the sale of GR for 25 million to bright-solid operators of find my past could breach competition laws by leaving only two major operators bright-solid and ancestry in the market place so we could be stuck with the same old site we know and love

	It never went on the market thats why, dont think the site will alter with who ever the new owners are,,,unless they invest to bring it with more facilities ,bright and modern looking,,,,,,,,and get rid of them boring purple folk they are now past their sell by......

ITV must now convince the Competition Commission to allow it to sell off Friends, which the broadcaster bought for £170 million and once hoped would make a viable British competitor to Facebook before its profits collapsed. Friends’ most successful property is its Genes Reunited genealogy site, but because Brightsolid, the prospective buyer, owns FindMyPast.com and 1911 Census.com the OFT is worried about the reduction in the number of players in that sector.
