Thank you all for your messages.
I went with my husband daughter and son to see my aunt last night. She was in a deep sleep. I told her we were there, but there was no sign of her hearing me. My cousin and his wife arrived while we were there ( as arranged) we stood around the bed talking about our memories of her, as kids.

Louie and her husband had not been able to have children of their own, so her nephews and neices were always a treat to them when we visited. They were my favorite uncle and aunt.
They would give us jobs to do that mum was too busy to do with us. I remember painting their gate one day.

To see her sat up in a chair on Sunday talking to us, even though what she was saying was quite shocking sometimes
( ironing boards at the side of all the beds in the hospital ward, steam coming from the ceiling, seeing people who were not there) then she asked how my kids were. To then be told her body is shutting down, and she has hours to live was a shock to me. I have to think at 87 she had a long life, and I know she has been wanting this for many years. I wish for a peaceful passing.
