Why do I disike the term 'became pregnant' when referring to teenage pregancies?
Because to have 'become pregnant' seems to refer to some magical occurence.

Most of us know how it occurred. It may have been 'magical' at the moment, - but we know it's just one of those things.
At least 18 years of looking after a sprog!!!

How about:

"was impregnated" - implies that someone else was to blame - LOL

or just plain old "up the duff" ??

Impregnated -
Bit clinical, Mrs G, but definitely infers the act of an 'other' LOL
'Up the Duff' could cast aspertions on the Duff family, many of whom, I am sure, aren't really up themselves!

I see that there are pharmacy's willing to hand out "The Pill" for free and off prescription,
Whats wrong with chastity belts and morals?

ooops maybe that would infringe their "human rights" to bear children while underage.......

methinks that if there were not so many benefits, then maybe they (the childbearers) would think twice if they had to rely on their families for support.
It appears too easy for some of them to " Fall pregnant" and expect the local councils to house them.....

No offence...honest....am sure what you feel about the subject is quite valid and I would probably have agreed with the sentiment...but do come on...chastity belt? lolol

( Please don't hit me....I am a little old lady who knows no better ( you prove otherwise lol):-))))))))

Oh the girls' fathers I would think, Persephone;) Perhaps fathers should lock up their daughters until they're 25 as well?

Maybe stray, but there ARE many girls that " Fall" just for the hell of it!!

I think that the Glamour of being a child mum is what puts many of them into the teenage mum bracket, and as you say
reality is more difficult than first thought......
