Thats the right part of the sky Joanne. You'll see a very fast moving streak of light.

They'll radiate out from that part of the sky. Some will be a very bright streak & others just a quick flash. The ones you'll see the best will be above the top two stars of Orion.

It all depends on how bright each one is & how much light pollution.

I was pondering a catapult for the light - but reported the highways department (to themselves) for 'light nuisance'.
The light now has a small shield on the front so I can only see a faint outline of the junk in my bedroom!

Will attempt the 'great out doors' again in a while - bl**dy cold here.

Ok............I've had a look, but have to admit I don't what I am looking at!

I found Orion (the one with the 3 stars close together). I looked to the left, right, above and below. All I see is stars! Some looked a bit orangey, but I didn't see any of them shooting through the sky.

What exactly should I see?

Ray

Ray Report 14 Dec 2009 00:25

Eeehh - it's a bit chilly, Stevie.

Have to admit the new street lamp opposite my house doesn't light up the sky - bonus!

Shame it lights up my house so much I can see every item of furniture in my bedroom, and walk down the stairs and through the front of the house at 2am without turning on a light!

Ooops, nearly forgot.

Tonight is the Geminid meteor shower.........Going on now & peaking till 2am GMT.

If you look South & up to the constellation of Orion......(easy to find... its the big H in the sky, with a narrow waist).

Look further upwards & to the left from it & the meteors will radiate from there. You'll see on ave 1 per min.

I've seen 8 already
