I seem to have come to a dead end in my search . I notice that the 1881 census appears to be missing do members usually subscribe to other search sites which would seem to be an expensive way of tracing my family history but perhaps there is no alternative. I would be grateful for any advice, regardsFrank

The 1881 census is free on Ancestry and Familysearch.
