Oh Angie - you know we love you - don't be upset!

But yes, you do need your beauty sleep ... (not that I'm even hinting that you're an ugly old boot you understand)

LOL

Jill's not saying anything that most of us don't know, Angie - including the bum scratching:-))

Thank you all.

I thought the idea of the socks was to stop the Vicks making the bed linen all greasy!

Oh and Sue, Angie does scratch her a*se a lot! Dreadful. You just have to look away and pretend you're not with her. Soooo embarrassing!

LOL

I used to say that to the children when they had a cough (years ago), if you can stop coughing it will get better. Practically impossible though isn't it? When I have that sort of cough I take a flask of hot squash to bed with me, it is the only thing that stops the cough.

....it is important that you wear the socks over the vicky feet, as sliding over the laminate in the middle of the night and landing in a heap is not cool.....

Sorry to hear of your cough Mrs Grumpy.......I've had it ( mine did turn into a chest infection ) but it's gone now ( hopefully ) . Vick on the feet really does help a bit ........and I smoke ( but this cough was SO bad I almost gave up ! ) .

I hope it clears up soon but it will probably hang around longer than you'd expect .....mine has : (

Angie's right though Sue. But she smokes more than me ...

And drinks more than me ....

And talks more than me ....

LOL

Hi All

Laughing doesn't help ... And I have tried not coughing but I then start spluttering all over the place which is gross. And I'm worried that I might explode!

Angie - what are you saying? cough cough - I have been really really good though and tried to cut down to the odd puff!

Hi Sue - good old NHS. I was in an out of his surgery in about 3 minutes flat as well!

And I'd forgotten about the Vick remedy so thanks for that reminder - I will try that tonight!

I've had a cough too but as McB says.......

Vick on your feet before you go to bed stops you coughing at night and you get a restful night.

Rub vic on the soles of your feet & put socks on when you go to bed,

Ask vic first though LOL

Well I guess it's like an itch, Jill. The more you scratch the worse the itch gets. True but doesn't help one little bit. I bet you paid for that advice too:-))

I had to laugh.

I had a truly horrible cold last week and have had one of those irritating dry coughs this week - started Tuesday. Usually a dry cough breaks after a couple of days so I sound like a rusty old bronchitic and then after a few days it's all gone, but no. Dry cough has hung around.

It's worse when I talk. Tried grunting but that doesn't help either. It's really bad if I've been out in the cold and come into somewhere warm. And every night this week I've woken myself up coughing at some unheard of hour of the morning. And woken OH up too.

So, finally, after OH nagged me to bits yesterday morning, I went to the doctors - just in case it was a chest infection. I hauled in two bottles of cough medicine - one for dry coughs, one for chesty coughs as wanted his advice while I was there. He listened to my chest, said it was all clear. Told me not to waste my money on cough medicine - just use lemon, honey and hot water.

Then - he said "This will make you laugh, but the best thing you can do for a cough is to stop coughing" !!!

OH has been telling everyone ever since - but it reminded me of that Tommy Coooper joke - "Doctor Doctor, it hurts when I lift my arm" ... "Well, don't lift your arm then"

Helpful advice eh? But at least I don't have a chest infection!
