I think it would be better if they got away from the term 'life' which doesn't mean what it says and came up with a different criteria by which they gave a particular number of years. And it should be judged by the severity of the crime. So that somebody could be given say 15, 20, 30 years and stick to that number, not halving it before they have even started the sentence as they do. |
