In a Country like this,( Australian Summer ) that can easily reach Temps up to 48c plus........As a parent and grandfather, i am always reminding my own children, never ever leave your children alone in a car..... regardless.
It goes on every year, and the parent/s who do this should be disgusted with themselves.

News:
Car windows smashed to rescue toddler:

Two people have smashed the windows of a car parked in Sydney's northwest to help an overheated toddler left alone while his mother went shopping.
The incident has prompted police to warn parents of the dangers of leaving children alone in hot cars, saying the temperature inside can be up to 40 degrees Celsius hotter than outside.

A member of the public noticed the 18-month-old boy in the car, with the windows wound up, at a shopping centre at McGraths Hill on Tuesday.
He had the car's registration details broadcast through the complex.

When no one came forward, two members of the public went to the vehicle, where the child was screaming, and smashed the windows.
The boy was given water to cool down and police and paramedics attended the scene before his 34-year-old mother was found.

The toddler was taken to hospital as a precaution and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Oh, Tony - what is wrong with these people? Don't they realise that children die in hot cars? I try not to be judgmental but I hope the mother is prosecuted. Shame on them.

I also don't understand people flicking cigarette butts out of car windows etc. when we are all aware in Australia of the devastation that bush-fires cause.

SueMaid.

I call it just plain ignorance.
I see animals ( pets ) locked in cars also on very hot days, with their tounges panting, and watering eyes........ as i am a driver on our roads. I will wait for the owner to return, and give them a serve too, or i will write them a note, and leave it under their windscreen wipers, to let them know i have reported them.

The bloke that smashed the car window to recue the little boy, was giving him some cool water, when the mother returned.

He gave this mother such a verbal tounge lashing, and told her she was not fit to be a parent....and good on him

The bloke himself was shaking in anger.

No excuses, i say.

You're right Tony - absolutely no excuses. It has to be child abuse and criminal neglect at the very least.

Kay.
I'm sure it does happen in the U.K....and most likely all over the planet. I just cant fathom what these people are thinking when they lock the doors to the car with the child still inside on a 30c plus day!!

Our news tells us this child was possibly only minutes away from death.
But for the sake of this passer by, this lady could have been spending her christmas morning at the cemetery, burying her child.

Babycham. I agee....sit them in the the car, all strapped in and let them suffer. Let them see how it feels for an hr or so not to be able to move.

So thats about a 260km plus trip in 40c heat, locked up in the back of a police van.

Yes...possible they got a slap on the wrist.

Bloody disgusting...Where's their common sense?
