Stayed at Daughter's for Christmas. According to her, do not know how to wash up, can't cook, no idea how to bring up children, can't even wash the floor properly. ( wonder who taught her all that she knows) lol

Oh dear Carol. Not a good experience then.
I went to my son's for the first time as he and his fiancee invited us for Christmas dinner in their house. They moved in together this year. We had a wonderful day even though he said it was hard work cooking for eight of us (her parents and sisters included)
My other son got engaged Christmas day so a truly lovely time. I can appreciate it more knowing how difficult a time some GR members are having at the moment (Keith in Fujariah).

Di, in all honesty it was not that bad, son was also there, he had cooked turkey, so did not feel so bad when she critised him also, and he is a fantastic cook wanted to be a chef at one time. Think it is just this generation, I would not have dared say such things to my parents.

I agree totally. Some of the things my two sons come out with I would never have had the nerve or confidence to say. I wish sometimes I had stood my ground a little bit more in my younger days.
Kim I also agree with you. Both my sons have done their own ironing and housekeeping since they were 13 and have cooked for sometime. Their partners appear to not see what needs doing in their own homes and this sometimes causes rows between them. I do not interfere though.

Kim, that is true, I am proud of all my 3 children, perhaps there is a little part that makes you feel they do not need you anymore and that is what it is all about, in other words we have all done a good job. Take care

Sometimes children can be a bit thoughtless with their comments Carol.......she would not be where she is if she had not had you as a guide.......and if she does a better job......well, that is a good thing.....

I had to laugh at my youngest Son.....his daughter (6) asked, why do we always come to Grandma's for dinner and not Nanny's.......so he said.....well we get the very best dinner at Grandma's.....

.....cheesy, or what......and his wife is a good cook.......just wish my daughter and daughters in law would invite us round to dinner instead of always being mine or their in-laws.......they can cook.....
