Porlock is in Devon.As far as I know,it always has been.despite boundry changes. |

anyway, it's somewhere down west ... can't be far from Lynmouth and Lynton as I think we were down there and there were trips to Porlock on offer ... I am going back a few years though and my sense of direction and geography are total rubbish! |

according to mates, when I was young, there is/was a hill there that was so steep that allegedly could only be climbed in reverse gear???........porlock hill |

not sure if this helps, but according to Place Name Index from genuki definitely Somerset and from 1837 to 1936 was in the Williton registration district and from 1936 to 1974 in Exmoor |

After you go past Lynton/Lynemouth you come to Porlock hill which in the old days had to be attacked in reverse gear by some cars. Modern cars of course don't have a problem. Porlock has a very pretty little village and quay. (Somerset) |
