Thats what I though Liz, they met at 17 got engaged 2 years later, split up 2 years after that but remained best of friends, they always said if they had met when they were older they would not have split up.

They have now been together again for a couple of years but this is for keeps. I found the marriage about 3 years ago in the parish records and said it would be funny if they were related. Little did we know lol.

As I say, destined to be together.

My OHs grandfather married his cousin. Their mothers were sisters. Still working on tracking them through the mists of time. So far no evidence of children from that marriage. OH is descended from his grandfather's second marriage. Well liaison. Oh golly they do say these sailor's like the ladies.

My stepsister and her husband were distant relatives through shared scottish ancestry, and they met in Folkestone, Kent!

Just found out that my son and his girlfriend are related by marriage. Both families a couple of generations back lived in the Manchester area and ended up via different places along the way, with the current generations living in Derbyshire.

Found out that my great uncle William married my son`s girlfriend`s great auntie Edna. What are the chances of that coincidence when the families started out in different parts of the country. My mum knew Edna very well.

It means that they are only related by marriage but William and Edna`s children are cousins once and twice removed.

Has anyone else found this.
