I would like to get one for hubby, and don't know where to start, lolol!! And why do they need to be docking... do they have to have a dock or can you just charge them up like a phone?

Please will some kind person tell me what to get?? Very pretty please!

You only need a dock if you want to play it like you would a CD player......cos you need the speakers....otherwise you can just listen to it through ear phones...

With regards to charging......I think I'm right that if you have a dock...when it's sat on the cradle it will charge but if you don't have a dock then you get a charger for it and charge it exactly like a mobile.......OR you can charge it using that charger from your computer.

** I can play my ipod through my stereo system because it has an AUX option on it so I don't have a docking station. I don't play CDs anymore......I put all my stuff straight onto itunes then onto my pod and play all my music through that.....much better than hunting for cds whenever there's a specific song I want to listen to....it's now all there at the touch of a button. They're a brill piece of kit Daff.....you can even play it through your car stereo is you have a tape recorder....xx

Thanks for that Muffy... so if you were going to get a nice one, what would you go for? All I know is he and son were talking about them and they agreed not the nano one *pulls a face* Too much Mork and Mindy-ish for me, lol

Well my one is pretty old now Daff.......it's a nano but has video etc on it......I'm not too sure what the newer ones are like now tbh. My nano is fab and I still have loads of space left on it. ....OH has a non video playing nano and got a 2 gb one which has turned out to be not enough space for all the stuff he wants to put on it.......xx

Do you use the video a lot? I have a feeling that is what he meant.... that he wouldn't watch them.... can you get a dvd onto it? *scratches head in puzzlement*

I have just got him a thingy and all the attachments so that he can download all his vinyl from his turntable.... and he has loads and loads of music he listens to all the time... but I am not really a big music fanatic.......

I didn't get him loads for Christmas, as he only gave me a smallish list, and I didn't want to end up getting him sommat that would sit in a drawer... but I heard him and son talking.... and well, he has been a bit of a rock the last year or so with one thing and another, and I wanted to get him something special that I know he would use. Also... our stereo is a bit old hat now, and has been put into the garage. It was top of the range twenty years ago, lololol!!

Yeah I'd go much higher than 2gb if he has a lot of music to transfer onto it.

I downloaded a few music vids from itunes onto it when I first got it Daff but have to say the novelty soon wore off and now I use it only for music. I had this idea in my head that I'd download films and watch them in the car whilst waiting for the girls to come out of school......but I never did LOL.

I bet he'll be chuffed to bits with his new toy Daff !!! lovely surprise for him.....xx
