Has anyone got a Workshop Manual on the above car or can offer assistance as to how to remove/refix a broken wing/door mirror, please? Hope my description is clear, I mean the complete thing, not the mirror itself!

Can only find two small screws under the trim which doesn't seem to want to come off and reveal them, o.h. trying to fix the mirror back in place - don't ask!!!!!!!

Y reg Keith

It would be helpful if you could do that for me. O.h. has clamped it in position at the mo but it can't be permanently like that.

Seems there are two screws partially visible under trim inside door

It was too cold for o.h. to spend too long on it and he has to use the car for work at 6am Saturday but might be able to drive it under cover there and take a look in a tea break.
The wires have probably stretched but it's a shame if we can't reuse the housing at least as a different coloured one will look scruffy, and he doesn't want to go through insurance and get a new one. Much cheaper to do it himself using a secondhand one if he can get it, we have several yards near here where you can usually pick up bits and pieces for car repair.

Liz if you take it to the 2nd hand parts yard they will do it for you
its a 10 min job to them
i will still look at mates car in morning
But i think the cover needs to come off to get at the screws to remove the mirror

Thanks Keith, he can go to the spare parts place next week in the mornings before going on late shift. He took up the request to go in on Sat and Sun morning this week on overtime, as it's been a bit sparse lately, now he will be spending what he earned quicker than he thought lol

Thanks for all the help, good luck on Monday.

Hi Liz,
Is this because the mirror has been knocked & the mirror housing is no longer attached to the door & just hanging by its wires?

If so, it can be re-inserted back into the hinging.
This happened to my Escort. After it got knocked, it spent weeks attached to the door with duct tape. Eventually I found that by using a screwdriver. I could lever the spring mechanism open & push the hinge back onto place.

I think this will be a Monday morning job if it isn't too cold, o.h. not had time to do much as working this weekend.
He checked with Halfords and I think he said a new one, not colour coded, was £63!!!!
