When i first started my tree, some how i went from Northaw
Hertfordshire to Bishops Stortford Hertfordshire ,
it was only when i got back to 1800s that i realised i was wrong .

Dont give up Rose.

well there's one thing, I have just been looking at my gt grandmother instead ...and one of her grandfathers was a butler , the other a blacksmith ... :)

It is beginning to make the Irish side look simpler after all lol

Slightly different I've had real problems with my FTM programme so I know what you mean..

Also, I made a mistake when I first started out, trusting 1881 census material that seemed to fit, only to discover that ancestor had died before then.

It meant that some ancestors weren't from Cornwall, never mind! (nearly 10 years later, I've only just found out her proper parents lol) I've never found his family though.....

However, I wouldn't change a thing. My Nan met some of her cousins for the first time because their family had made the same mistake as us. That was our connection lol.

Only shortly after they met, I realised our mistake and changed the tree but who knows? If I hadn't made a mistake, or if they hadn't made a mistake, we may not have met her cousins in time.

Crossing my fingers on it Joy, that he was just born before the marriage , and was his fathers son if you follow...I have a real feeling for this family...they have always been 'mine'

Oops.......I made a big mistake when I 1st started my tree. I linked my grt grandad with the wrong wife & parents..................When I realised my error, I had to delete about 50 names & apologies to a couple of people who thought they had a link with me. :o((

Maybe there are reasons for the discrepancies Rose & the link isn't in error.

Hayley...I think I will give up lol... and for me to find that when my ancestry sub expires tomorrow ...well!

Funnily enough the last time i ordered a cert from the GRO it came in a large white envelope...do you think that could be the white package you predict coming .... !!

Thanks Jill...I am not sure that the birth cert is going to help .Because I have always had so much census info ( and family stuff) on my gt grandfather and family , I had never thought to look for his specific DOB...looking at other things yesterday I realised he wasn't showing up when he should be ... but his parents marriage was.....a bit late lol.

oo-er.

Sounds like a big problem!

I've only spotted two errors on my tree in the past - someone else spotted one of them for me - and as they were way back and recent work at the time it was not too much of a problem to sort it out.

Best of Luck with it though Rose!

nasty feeling that all the hard work done on your tree is about to go out the window :( That one tiny discrepancy, so small you don't notice it for two whole years lol )
