Wild Birds in your Garden

Glenys the Menace!

Glenys the Menace! Report 3 Jan 2010 13:55

Hi, everyone. I don't post much on here anymore, but sometimes have a nosy at the threads! Happy New Year to all!
Following on from the "Birds" thread, my hubby thought this may be useful for any interested peeps: in our garden, we have a small water feature. During this icy weather, we bought a 25-watt aquarium water heater which hubby placed under the feature, and which we keep switched on all the time. Not only is it currently (no pun intended!) their only local water source, but they're loving it and splashing around.
A good investment, though it's about £20.
If you reply and I don't, as I say I do pop in from time to time. We've had a lot to deal with this past year.
Best wishes to all.

Thanks Glenys, that is a good tip, I will pass it on to OH who is in charge of water features. Although our main one didn't completely freeze and was OK once we turned the pump on.

Hi Glenys, sorry you have had a difficult time and hope this year is better for you.

Good idea about the water feature. I must remember to go and sort out the bird bath, altho I have been negligent with it, there has been the hedgehog water bowl kept icefree as it's nearer the house and I saw the dunnock there the other day, having a drink.
