Finally thawing?

Is it finally starting to thaw now in North East? The main roads are starting to clear with banked up slush and snow at the edges and then great puddles in the middle where the water can't get to the drains. Roads in front of house still look like an ice rink but I finally turned my engine over today for first time since 17th December and it started first time!!!
Only trouble is that where hubby has cleared drive to get his car out he's banked it all up behind mine so great pile of it to clear before I can get out onto the road!!!!

Hi Julia I'm in North East too.
It's good to see snow melting, but, fingers crossed it doesn't freeze overnight!

A big thaw in our immediate area today.
I've got more grass showing than snow in the back garden now.
We have had nothing like the amount of snow that fell in some places, but a few miles into the country from here it's quite different.
I saw a local bus today, so there's hope that the outlying places will be 'reconnected' to civilisation soon.

I actually managed to catch a bus today - even if it was 10 minutes late! :o)
More snow forecast for here, tomorrow at about 6pm.
