The Marriage cert you get from swansea.......
is a photocopy of the entry in their register, yes?
Which at times is difficult to read........

But the REAL original was in the church register, which was sent to the "GRO" I believe.

or is the copy you get, (from the GRO)taken as a copy from the church's register?
I believe that the local register office reference is different to the GRO's

what I am really asking is, would the copy from the local registrars office be any clearer than the copy from the GRO?

The church register is either still in the church or the local Records Office,
unless the Registrar attended the marriage.
The Registrars office and the GRO have transcribed copies.
Very few local offices own a scanner so you will get a certificate made out for your order.
You can complain to the GRO if the certificate is illegible.I believe they will send you a replacement.

Thanks Satnav

I have meanwhile been in touch with the local office and theirs is not much better than mine, however she confirmed what I THOUGHT was entered.........,
