D'you think it's likely any of us will live long enough to see the end of the DFS sale?

when I was looking for a new suite I called in there with my friend for a laugh - we walked in and a guy rushed over to help!!! Do you ever have a sale I asked him? Well as a matter of fact we have one on now he said!! Irony was completely lost on him!!!!

I'm almost ashamed to say we once owned a DFS suite. The fabric was lovely; I liked the covers better than the one we have now but that's as far as it goes.

We couldn't afford much as we had three growing children but we bought this suite and within 10 days one of the springs had broken and gone through the bottom! A man came to fix it and wanted to patch it as he said he didn't think he had enough material but I said 'no' as I wanted it done properly as it was only 10 days old. He went out to his car and came back with a huge roll of the stuff! Over the next few years my husband replaced every spring and patched it up. By the time we'd paid for the darned thing it was completely worn out!

We went out and bought a really nice second hand suite from a nearby furniture shop. It's so comfortable we have difficulty keeping awake in the evenings.

As sad tale; be warned!

Brilliant Ann !! Have you just seen an advert???

when I eventually bought my lovely leather suite the shop had a DFS suite on display at the front of the shop - they were only four doors away from DFS by the way - the had the suite there to show people the difference between theirs and DFS - and what a difference it was - you only have to consider what DFS must spend on advertising to wonder how much their furniture is worth.

I worte a letter to our local newspaper asking if DFS should be given an ASBO for constant harrassmentof the public - they printed it!!!!

Who buys them all - there must be a limit to how many three piece suites people can buy??? We bought a leather chesterfield - from Lexterden - in l976 and it is still going strong - after two sons and grandchildren jumping on it.

Lol Ann, you do have a point.

I like the fact your local newspaper printed the letter.

My grandad used to moan about them all the time. It was always sale ends this Sunday to which my grandad always shouted at the tv "yeah, as your new sale starts on Monday".

We ordered a sofa about 5 yrs ago and when it arrived it had dents all over the arms, hanging threads, the cushions had about as much life in them as a wet lettuce and there were huge dents in the side of it.

I phoned them up and told them to get it out of my house immediately or I'd arrange at their cost to deliver it directly into their store and show potential customers what crud they pass off as *designer*

They picked it back up within the hour and refunded my card immediately.

I've known people to be thrilled with their purchase from them so maybe I just had a bad experience .......but I personally wouldn't use them again xx

Ann, that is sooooo funny:)

My friend bought a sofa from MFI (Made For Idiots) what was...anyway, it collapsed after about 3 years or so. She did nothing but slate them off for yonks....and then when her daughter moved house, my friend said she'd buy her a new dining table etc......OK said daughter, you know what I like and what I don't.

Off friend went shopping for promised table etc..............and where did she go??? Flaming MFI..........................DOH!!

Advert on again lunchtime - one year with nothing to pay and then interest free payments. I suppose the free year gives you time to see if the suite is going to last???

*whispers* My suite is from DFS, and I like it... problem is it is cream, and the cats all love it, too... so did the dogs when they were alive.... it is nearly 10 years old... does that mean it is antique???
