Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 16 Jan 2010 15:23

I don’t come from a big family, I have 2 sisters and my mum, but we are all very close and always have been. Now our children have grown and are adults with children of their own I suppose you can say it’s a rather large family. The closeness between all of us is still there. I love the way we are referred to as “ the sisters” even by our nephews and nieces, never Mum and Aunties.

I am never bored or lonely as there is always some sort of drama bubbling away somewhere in one household. Mum is normally the one who likes to hold court and one sound of her voice on the phone about to announce of another drama always makes me giggle with “ Oh Elsie have you heard?” The jungle drums will start beating and the news spreads around like wild fire. Our homes are a constant meeting place with a constant flurry of visitor’s or phone calls. The moans and sharing troubles or problems seem to ease once shared. My husband asks me once, “ Have you ever wondered what it like to watch you all as an outsider? I was a bit taken back by this remark, and told him he was family like it or lump it. He reminded me he wasn’t always and had been almost jealous. Now this threw me as he is from a big family all though they are not a close one.

We (the sisters) have own friends jobs and interests, but remain best friends. The reason I am writing this is, one of my sisters returned from holiday in the early hours on Friday morning, as I finished work on Friday night, I wanted to see her I had missed her, even though she was only away a week. As I arrived straight from work, my other sister and her 2 daughters were leaving. Still she had a houseful. She asked me if I had, had any tea, and made me something to eat. I asked if she landed about 1.10am she said she did and laughed, as you knew why. All though I live under a flight path and have done so all my life and am so used to hearing planes I don’t hear them but can tell you if they are landing or taking off. When one of my sisters is coming home its wakes me I know its them and they do the same if its me.

Is anyone else like this with their families?

I enjoyed reading this Hayley ......your family sounds much like the one that I have generated .
I personally am the youngest of three ( I have two older brothers ) , I see one of them several times a week as he lives round the corner to me , the other brother I might not see more than two or three times a year but he does phone from time to time ( especially if he is missing our parents ).We are not "close " in as much as needing to see each other but there is a strong bond of love between the three of us which was forged in childhood and has stood the test of time .
My kids on the other hand can't make a move of anykind without the jungle drums beating and we all become aware of what each other are up too......lol

Families are wonderious things in all their forms .

To My new Sister xx

Sisters, sisters
There were never such devoted sisters,
Never had to have a chaperone, No sir,
I'm here to keep my eye on her
Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome
She wore the dress, and I stayed home
All kinds of weather, we stick together
The same in the rain and sun
Two different faces, but in tight places
We think and we act as one
Those who have seen us *
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And Lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man

I didn't grow up with any brothers or sisters, though after their divorce, Dad remairried when I was 17, taking on his new wife's three children, then they had the twins just after I got married. So I didn't grow up with them to become close.

My half-sister and I get on ok though she gets right on my **ts sometimes, she's in a world of her own and forgets other people. But that's how she is and I accept it. My half-brother is severely disabled with Angelmann's Syndrome, similar to Cerebral Palsy.

Mum came from a small family having only one sister, and I have only one cousin on that side who never married and never had children.

Dad on the other hand, came from a large East End family, the oldest of eight children, and they are close to one another, but we are far flung now, so we don't see one another except Weddings Christenings and Funerals. It's been a good many years since we were all together, and last time there were so many of us cousins we had to hire a hall to get us all in. Those days are gone now.

I'd love to experience that closeness that Hayley has with her family, but it's not to be. My friends have become my family in many ways, and I treasure them.

4 siblings, 3 sisters scattered round the South, 1 brother in USA.

Happy noisy childhood ... sisters all close ... chat on Skype & meet up with sisters every couple of months.

If I have a problem ... phone rings & it is one of them

Hi

I come from a large family......5 sisters and 3 brothers.

We are all really close with the exception of the youngest child (my sister).

She is the only one who is totally death and thinks she should only be with death people...we were not even invited to her wedding.....her choice as she is the one who is missing out.

All the girls have children and they have all grown up together and now they are older go out together or they are on the phone / computer to each other.

Can be a bit mad at times......especially at New Year when we all go to my mum n dad's house, but would not change it for a minute.

Dont get me wrong we have our moments as one of my BIL once pointed out we can be like the ruddy Colbys,

When Itsmytelly was doing the roof I was chatting to my sister on the phone, as I was chatting I noticed his lay on the floor fag in his hand like he was lie on the beech it was raining I was just about to tell him to get up and I realised he had feel off hsi ladder, I said to my sister on the phone he has fallen off the ladder and put the phone down and rushed out to him with in seconds my sister came running through the door I half expected the rest of them round....we all have nick names for one another one is Miss Grumpy then Miss Bossy and I believe they call me Mrs Boohkey....lol
