Ha! My dog doesnt care how yuck I feel if he thinks it's walk time he wants his walk. The only time he is smoochy is when he is feeling under the weather (or thunder storm).

Nearly 40yrs ago, I had a prem baby. I did not see her for a fortnight as she was whisked away to the prem baby unit in Derby city centre, whilst I was in another hospital recovering from a caeser. She had to stay in the unit until she was a good weight and had completed her full term, another five and a half weeks.
In those days, our house was the sort where you had a back living room, which you used all the time, and a front room, which you rarely used. We also had coal fires in those days, which meant I could maintain constant heat, as I had to sleep in there also at night with her.
We had a chocolate labrador at the time, they were just becoming fashionable, and baby would lay on the two seater settee, with the dog constantly lay on the floor in front of the settee. It was as if the dog was 'guarding' the baby, as if she knew the baby needed extra attention. I remember one day putting my hand across the settee to put the baby's dummy back in. The dog did not half growl at me, as if I was trespassing on her territory.
The dog is now long gone, but the prem is a strapping lass, and bigger than me. But, never underestimate you dog. He/she is, after all, man's best friend.

I had a cat called Lucy (1971-1988) who had quite a nasty disposition at times.

Each time I was pregnant she would sit on my lap and as I grew larger she would lie across the bump, purring, as if she knew there was a baby there.

Once the babies were born she lost interest in me and never bothered with the children.

Animals are strange creatures. I don't think we give them enough credit for their 'sixth' sense.

We have three cats, but Oliver the cat from HELL,is very close to OH,who today came home after having a tin hip fitted.

While OH was in hospital, Oliver wouldn't eat, even his favourite, scones, but now he is home,Olly is fussing round him,and when OH struggles up and down stairs,Ollly follows on every step, looking up as if to say

"are you OK dad, mind you don't slip, can I help? " He is now curled round his dads neck, making sure that he dosn't move without permission.

For those of you that have me as a friend on FB you can see piccies of my cats Claude and Scully, when I'm feeling abit low or unwell Claude always comes and gives me loads of fusses and kisses. Scully never comes near me though except when it's feeding time.

My dog - who normally barks when someone even walks past the house - is a poppet when I'm not well. The last time I was off sick and was in bed all day, he lay by my side all day and did not make a sound. Very quiet, very calm. Very odd!
