If you like to make things, but dislike the chopping up, I have just found in my local M******sons, individual small jars of chopped chilli, garlic and ginger.They were a £1 each, and on the prepaired vegetable section. Bought one of each as I thought they would be handy. Also Strawberries at a £1 a box.

Wow julie , you gaot a couple of bargains there,,Chopping up garlic gets on my wick,,i may invest in a few jars,,

I got some frozen chopped garlic from Morrisons last week,,haven't used it yet,but was under £1.It looks very fresh and not dried.I do use the chilli and garlic dried one in a mill,and that is good for quickness.

Lidl opened here yesterday and I'm in heaven. Clean, fresh fruit and veg, english chipalatas, salad cream, kit kats, and and and so much more

Didn't know about Morrisons but I use Very Lazy Garlic in jars and frozen garlic from Waitrose.
Not over keen on their frozen parsley.

Aldi and Lidl beat the big four supermarkets for happy customers

Budget food chains are ahead of the big stores in the affection of shoppers, it has been revealed.
Operators such as Aldi and Lidl have beaten the 'big four' that dominate high street in a measure of customer satisfaction.
They each managed a score of 61 per cent, research shows.
Budget bargains: Customers of Lidl and Aldi were happier than the big four supermarkets, according to a survey by Which?

Tesco and Asda, meanwhile, both scored less than 50 per cent. Morrisons did a little better, while Sainsbury's was the most popular of the big four - with 58 per cent.
Waitrose remained the nation's favourite food retailer - with a score of 79 per cent.
The survey by consumer group Which? looked at the quality of the store, the attitude of staff, the range of product and prices.




The success of Aldi and Lidl, both German-owned, coincided with the recession that put a squeeze on household budgets.
The stores adopt a 'pile it high, sell it cheap' philosophy, while the number of staff per store is a fraction of mainstream operators. They both charge for plastic bags, and do not tend to offer big brands.

The woman who wrote the article was amazed at how much cheaper her shopping was at Aldi.
For my part I prefer their soft drinks to Tesco,their sugar is good for preserving,it has never formed any scum on mine,their cereals are as good as Kellogg's and Nestle's which I won't buy anyway.

I prefer Lidl for the quality of their fruit and veg and Lidl walnut ice cream with a crumble made with Lidl tinned peaches tastes professional.

I don't like to go to the big four as they are usually far too big which Aldi and Lidl are not but do use Tesco online for a bulk buy of Quorn.
