We've had a couple of cats and now have a couple of dogs.

Does that mean we used to be intelligent but are now getting stupid?

The reason given for the finding was that people either at uni or with a degree and working were never at home so found it easier to keep a cat as tehy are self sufficient.
It's got nothing to do with intelligence

University is not just about owning cats. There's the drinking and fornicating aspect to consider.
Not to mention the intellectual conversations about blackheads, sex,f*rting. All things you need to be a well rounded dropout.

perhaps people with degrees are to stupid to have dogs.!

Today I met a beautiful Chow puppy called Baby Bear 12 weeks old, and had my hand thoroughly licked with his beautiful blue tongue, and oh I could have
taken him home and loved him !

I'm a cat owner with a GCE so that blows that theory out of the water!!

I heard part of a comment about this on TV, where they were suggesting that University degree folk may be in jobs that doesn't give them so much time to properly care for a dog, whereas as long as it is fed and has a good home, a cat doesn't mind being alone sometimes, so commuters etc. would more likely own a cat than a dog.

Don't think it would need an expensive study to fathom that out really.

Well, as I am owned by three cats I would love to agree, but really think it is a load of bunkum.

Both cats and dogs prefer a loving home, the difference is, that a cat will go and live elswhere if not happy, whereas a dog will put up with cruelty and abuse, and still adore his owner.

And yes,I am university taught, Sc and tech.

Hi IGP,
As Mac said - a total waste of time, energy and probably - our money!
what does it matter ?
It also totally igonres the vast number of people who are capable of gettng a degree but don't - because they're clever enough not to get into debt for the rest of their lives!!

People who own a cat are more likely to have a university degree than those with a pet dog, a study by Bristol University suggests.

So that's what they send you to University for, I never realised.
