*****One of the most common methods used for (this) information exchange is the GEDCOM, an acronym for GEnealogical Data COMmunication. In simple terms it is a method of formatting your family tree data into a text file which can be easily read and converted by any genealogy software program.***** |

GEDCOM, an acronym for GEnealogical Data COMmunication, is a file specification for exchanging genealogical data between different genealogy software. GEDCOM was developed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an aid to genealogical research. Files have the extension .ged. |

Hiya Bradley.... our trees already form a gedcom, basically... you should be able to upload or download your tree from here to another programme, or save it to a disc or similar...... and do the same to a tree you wish to add to your GR account... it used to take over any existing... but I think you merge them now, so you don't lose data. |
