For anyone who thinks they may have had a relative there in the 1800s

"The three-storey 18th century house was named after the Hon Thomas Walpole, who lived there from 1798-1803. He was an MP and nephew of Sir Robert Walpole, England's first prime minister. The house, which must be one of the most covetable houses in London, not just W4, then served for a while as the Royal Victoria Asylum for Girls, with the young Queen Victoria visiting in 1838 and describing it as "a most interesting and delightful establishment...for vagrant girls".

On the Parish records for St Nicholas' Church , Chiswick, there are 15 baptisms in 1836 of girls from there. There may well be more in other years . Thought it might be useful if you are missing someone...

That's a pity Uggers I could have done with some other names to look up there ..All mine were apparently christened at that church......and not one of them in the 20 years I trawled through last night lol.....

Is this really an ideal board to post this on? Shouldn't it be on Records Office?

Hi Susan, I am sure Ancestry have sneaked a few new records on there without much fuss, they weren't thre last time I looked .

St Nicholas' is the church where a lot of lightermen/ watermen had their children baptised, so although I haven't found 'mine' yet, have found some some connected names.
