Am I seeing things, I thought I saw your post go through twice earlier Anne, but now there's only one.....Might have to book in an eye test, me thinks LOL :-D :-D
How is Thomas now Jane, the poor thing, he must of been petrified with the fireworks being so close. Hope he's ok :-)
Yes the nights are definitely drawing in now David. I don't mind as once I pop the lamp on it's quite cosy in here ;-) ;-)
The heater my mum bought us yesterday is great and it's nice and warm here now, the EPC man is coming here on Tuesday so all being well, the new boiler will be going in soon :-)
I've just heard another message off Michelle better go and read it.

To be honest, the only people I feel sorry for in this awful air crash business are those poor Russians who were killed so hideously, and the the people in Egypt who will suffer economically from the inevitable loss of tourism as I can't imagine that anyone will be particularly keen to have a family holiday in such a dangerous part of the world. I think the people who are complaining about being held up and having their holidays ruined should be thankful that we have a government who is responsible enough to be so concerned about the well being of its citizens. Surely a bit of inconvenience is a small price to pay for safety?! Raining hard here, hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Here I am back from the garden center. We had a nice lunch, we both had the lasagne he had chips and I had crocettes (sp) you know what I mean. It comes with quite a bit of salad too. When we got home I made a nice coffee for him and I had my usual nice COT and I put a chocolate pudding cake on the table with a lighted candle in the center. That made him laugh. He was very pleased with his present which did arrive at the g center at 1 20pm. It was the lid to the first big new filter he bought this year. the lid was £100 the filter £1,995.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said he won't get so much condensation in the shed now they all have lids.
Happy birthday to Mandy's son hope you had a good one. Shame one top was too small.
JANE the book was on the doorstep when we got home and very wet it was too but the books inside was just fine. I shall send you a cheque. Thank you so much for sending it.
I am still fedding hedgehogs its so warm but I think it may be only one who knows they are on to a good thing but tonight oh was just out having a ciggy and he shot a rat quite a big one. I have now cut the food bowls down to 2 instead of 4 and still feeding one bowl in the ark down at Prickly Bottom. He said he will put some bait down. I am NOT feeding the rats!! They let the peasents out their pens last month and they stop feeding them so when the foods gone the rats come looking for other sorses of food.
Sounds like you have been very busy Gill. Don't overdo things again and make yourself ill. Has Sandra done any more cookling or baking?

I sent my Sister a Card and Cheque for one of her Grandchildrens birthday (1st class stamp) and it took 10 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.That is just from here to Glos.It got to the point where I was going to cancel the cheque and re post another. How it took 10 days to get there .Not good Service :-S :-S

Evening All,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mr Mel and Mandy's son. :-) :-) <3 <3 My word those filters don't come cheap do they Mel........!!!!!!!!!!! I bet it was nice to go out for lunch today and what you had sounds nice too. Did he manage to blow his candle out? lol. It's good that rat is gone now and won't be raiding your hog bowls........do you still put your camera out?
I hope Frank has his mower and is back home now. No doubt it will be tried out on his lawn as soon as it's dry enough.
I agree Liz........these folks who complain are plain stupid and lucky that more sensible people are looking after their interests.
Yes it's a pity we can see you more clearly David. The avatars need to be a bit bigger.
Thanks for forwarding Pat's pics Jane. You have been quick getting the place looking cosy and nice Pat and I agree with Mandy how nice those pale green accessories look. My utility cupboard units are just the same style and colour and with the same handles too. :-) I meant to ask before, do you still have any fish or is it just the dogs now?
Only 6 of us at beading today.........I have a feeling they may not run a class after Xmas.
Another invite arrived today from the solicitors for refreshments and nibbles at their place........never had that from a solicitor before!!!
Well the whizz bangs seem to have died down now, but there will be more tomorrow.

evening all
we have been in about half an hour now.. It was my grandsons birthday he is 5..He had a few friends from school and his cousins who lived near The party didn't start until 4 30 He also had a few fireworks at the end But all we had was rain and more rain The dogs haven't been for a proper walk here since last Monday.. Our back garden is so muddy where the grass has been damaged by all the building work.. Our journey does involve the m25 Anne M3 followed by m25 followed by M20 but we prefer the A2 than the M20..It takes us right to the roundabout by his road.If we use the M20 we go past the ferry terminal... and we don't like driving though Dover now with all the lorrys..He lives about 5 mins in land from Dover..

I didn't realise how late it was, I've just been looking for a weekend break down in Devon but couldn't find anywhere open, so it looks like everywhere is all shut up for the winter now. Such a pity we would of loved to gone away somewhere as we never got away in the summer with all the sorting and decorating we were doing :-( :-(
I missed your posts earlier Anne as mine went over to the next page a few minutes after yours. Glad to know I'm not seeing double after all :-D :-D :-D
I saw a heron here yesterday Pat, perched at the top of the big tree next door, I haven't seen it for quite a while and thought it had moved on somewhere. Hope the heron near you hasn't touched your fish.
Nice to hear you had a lovely lunch out Mel with your OH. The chocolate pudding cake sounds lovely. Better than the price of the filter, that's very expensive, but if it does the job I should imagine it's well worth the money.
Hope you got the lawn mower ok Frank and the journey wasn't to long for you both.
Well, I'd better get off to bed or I'll end up sleeping through tomorrow LOL Night Night

Morning all and eveningKim,
Wet wet wet and very windy out there this morning.I shan't be going far today and may even turn the heating on as you always feel colder when its blowing a gale just by the sound of it!
I see David and Jane were early birds this morning. I was still tucked up nice and warm in bed at that time of the morning.
Ann I don't put the camera out when its raining as with it being a wide lens one it takes pics of anything that moves and the batteries don't last long. They cost so much to replace. I wish I had had the same camera as the first one I had. I could handle that one ok. I also don't like putting out when its raining and if its misty you just get foggy pics.
Happy birthday for Pat's grandson for yesterday.
Gill most places down here close up in October for the winter and open again in March. I think thats why the big house does so well as it has room for lots of people for family parties and weddings and is open all year round. I think it sleeps up to 25 adults and if you spread the cost between them then its not so expensive a holiday or break.

Morning all, Evening Kim,
Thanks for the Photo's Jane. Pat you look like you are just about settled in. Hope you will be very happy there. !!
Oh what a day we had. I set the Sat. Nav. it said it was 50 odd miles and would tale about 1.20 minutes. Who's kidding who.!!! As we went up the M 40 the sat nav took us off at jcn 12 I thought we needed 15. We tried to get back on the motorway but the slip road was closed with Road works. I put in Alternative route, and off we went. COUNTRY LANES all the way. When I found somewhere I recognised we were almost back to Daventry. about 10 miles from home. So off we went again. We ignored junction 12 and went on to 15. through Stratford -on-Avon and back into the Country. The cottages were right out in the sticks :-D :-D Gawd knows what they do if there is snow and ice in the winter. The time now was after 2.00 pm. We set off back for home. The weather was to say the least SH#T to drive in. Lorries spraying mud all over the car. When we got down to the A45 there were road works and single line traffic for at least 2 miles. We finally arrived at the Carvery where we go at 4.00 pm. We hadn't had a break of any sort. Tell a lie, I had a pee in the hedge on a Country lane. LOL We had a nice carvery and a drink, and came home. Once the mower was unpacked and all Ros's bits put back in the boot. I came in had a shower and was in my dressing gown before 6.00 pm In bed before 10.00 pm and slept until 7.00 am.
That is some price for a filter Mel, :-0 :-0 :-0 The lid/cover wasn't cheap either. I bet you are glad OH got that Rat. It must be difficult to poison them, with all the wildlife around.
Well it looks like Egypt is off the holiday wish list for a while. It's somewhere I have never wanted to go, and with all the trouble in that area I don't think it's somewhere I will ever go. These Holiday makers might be a bit inconvenienced, but I know what I would prefer. !!!
Rain and wind here. Ros has rung Martine to say she's not going out today. There's nothing we want. There's no point in just going out to get wet.
I went into the kitchen and thought the kettle was making a funny noise. It wasn't that but a firework going puff, puff, puff, down the road, very faintly. I will be glad when the fireworks are finished. With this weather I think it's only DELAYING THEM !!!
Breakfast and another COT. I won't be going anywhere today.
Stay dry All.

Good morning all
It's a really horrible day here the rain is lashing down and very windy but still vey mild;
I have just been to have a flue jab its a walk in clinic with 3 doctors on duty and only me, so straight in and straight out. When I was in my teens I has Asian flue and was quite poorly for over a week so I wouldn't miss going its only about 15 minutes walk but I did get very wet.
Gill have you thought about booking rooms in a Travel Lodge they do family rooms with TV and tea & coffee provided with a kettle in all their rooms. Also they often have offers at this time of the year.
Richard is off to Oxford in a few minutes its a birthday of one of his friends so they are all going out for a meal, he is part of a group who meet up once a year in the Easter holidays to have a weeks holiday, like the big house near Mel when you look at the rental price it looks so expensive but divide it up among about 20 adults, some who now have kids of their own it works out cheaper per head they we pay for 5 of us to go away and they have had some fantastic houses in the past including swimming pools and games rooms. They have been doing this for over 14 years now.

Gill, I think you'd find a lot of hotels are open all winter for winter breaks, some of which are very reasonable. We've been invited to OH'S nephews wedding in Hampshire on 19th Dec, and have had no problem finding a hotel for the night. Might be worth looking around for a bargain break! Mind you it would probably be more economic to go to France, and you'd get better weather! Absolutely blowing a gale and teeming with rain here! Cas only had a run in the field this morning and I'm not sure whether I shall take her at lunch or not as it is SO wet!!! That was a bit of a nightmare Frank!!! When we went to Surrey, tom tom worked very well, in fact we would have been lost(?!!) without it, but I know that it can have a mind of it's own now and again!!!!
