Remember my Postman who did a WEE against the side of my house !!!!!!!.I chased him down the road and made him come back .I had a bucket of Hot water and disinfectant ready for him to swill it all away :-D..He was pleading with me not to report him as he would have lost his job and he had 2 young children.I said if he had just knocked on the door and asked to use the loo he would have been welcome .Or he could have just popped down the lane..I didn't report him as i think he was so mortified and embarassed with me handing him that bucket LOL
Gill I think it might do you all good to get away for a bit of a break. Why don't you go for it as long as OH is well.He should be by the 21st .Change of scenery and all that. You have had so much going on these past few months it just might do you good. The sooner you get this new boiler installed the better .It must be so difficult to keep any heat in the bungalow once you have turned off your heater and fire.
Washing in now but still very wet :-S
Mel the flowers sound very pretty.Hope you didn't get blown away in the wind. The wind here seems to have died down now and it all looks very still.I'm keeping my eye on the clock and will soon have to think about trying to get Thomas(not Chester :-) ) in before any big bangs and whizzes start...Mind you he could be miles away at the moment on one of his expeditions.I might have to go and shake the Cat Biscuit box.

Frank do you use internet explorer, it should be on your computer? If you go to the start button at the bottom left of your screen, click on that and Internet Explorer should be in the menu, click on that and you should notice a blue round icon with a white arrow pointing to the left. This is the back button. Each time you lose your post by backspace deleting, click on the blue button with the white arrow and it should bring you straight back to your post. You wouldn't lose your post then. It might be worth a try, it would save you a lot of time having to re-type your post out all the time. You might have an Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, it's a blue e with a yellow ring around it, just click on that and you're in :-D :-D Good luck, hope it works for you.

How horrible that postman peeing up your house Jane, good on you for making him clean his dirty mess up. That's not a good example to be showing his children as I'm sure he's probably done it elsewhere too. I don't blame you for not reporting him though, it would of been with you forever, thinking of him losing his job with children to support and like you said he was so embarrassed that he'll probably think twice before he does it again.

Gill, do bear in mind the costs of moving such a long way! I'm sure you have, but it can be easily forgotten! When we moved from Devon four years ago to where we are now, about 150 miles, it was quite a shock when we realised what with solicitors and agents fees, the move itself and other unforseen expenses like surveys on properties you are interested in, even people pulling out of a deal just before exchanging contracts, leaving you with additional solicitors fees, (this happened to us!!) and clearing outstanding utility bills, the whole bill was nearly ten grand!! Very different from when we moved down to Devon in 1992, when things were a lot cheaper. 5 o'clock and its dark!! Hope tomorrow is a better day weatherwise!

It costs us around 10 grand each time we move Liz, so we have factored that in, thanks for mentioning it though, if we hadn't of thought of it, it would of been quite a shock. At least I have finally found some properties that are within our price range and with us not having a mortgage on this place we can afford them without the need of another mortgage, so long as they don't sell before we can sell this one.
I've just had to ring OH's work to let them know he's not well and won't be in for a few days, maybe even a week as that is how long the antibiotics run for. I spoke with the boss and all she was bothered about was the fact he should of been working tomorrow. She didn't even say she hopes he gets better soon. The way that company treat OH is terrible and after all the times he's gone in at short notice to help them out, including yesterday with only an hour or so notice. I don't know why he bothers as they clearly don't care about him.......Sorry rant over, they just make me so cross sometimes. At least he can stay indoors now and hopefully start feeling better once the antibiotics kick in.
Yes the night are definitely drawing in now aren't they? Going to sort dinner out now See you all later

Gill.I would want to rant too.You rant away. From what you have said since your OH started working at the home he has done over and above his duty.I think it is shameful that there is no concern for his health and the fact he is really not well.I feel like ranting about it now.It is just so wrong that they call on him at a moments notice and expect hime to go in ,yet when he is unwell they don't give two hoots :-(
I can see myself now running down the road after that postman once I had realised what he had done. His van was right down the end of the road so I had to run a fair way to catch up with him..If anyone saw me they must have thought I was a crazy woman with arms waving and me shouting.I couldn't let him get away with it though as it was a gross thing for him to do.(and no need, even though he said he was 'desperate ' ) He won't be doing the same thing again .
Have been calling the cat in for half an hour now but there is no sign of him.I can hear fireworks :-S :-S and there is a spooky thing going around in the sky.It is one of those light things that beam up..Thought we had aliens for a moment :-S :-0

Yes my sons are all older than Gill and her OH. 48, 49 & 52 so three in four years with Mark being hyperactive with the Aspergers, At the time I took in all my stride with no help from family as we had moved to Bracknell when I was expecting Paul. I had Paul & Richard at home and we had no telephone then but we were happy.
I hope your OH soon feels better Gill it's very bad the attitude of his place of work when he is unwell, I hope he will get paid as usual.

You must of looked like a mad woman Jane, running down the street after the postman, you did make me laugh when you mentioned your arms waving, you've really cheered me up, thanks.
OH has had something warm to eat and is just relaxing on the sofa now. That's the other problem with this job, he doesn't have a hot meal very often, they don't provide one at work and by the time he gets in around 9pm he's to tired and just has a snack, couple that with not many hours sleep before he's up again at 6.30am it's no wonder he keeps getting ill all the time. It's starting to put pressure on our marriage as well because we hardly see each other. Sandra misses her dad too, which isn't fair on her either. At least he'll get a roast tomorrow, Sandra wants to cook it as he hasn't had one of her roast chickens yet, so she's looking forward to that. It'll be nice to have a Sunday lunch as a family for a change, it's been that long I can't remember the last time we sat down together on a Sunday. I just hope his throat isn't to bad to eat it.
Strictly's just come on so I'll go and watch it, then it's the X Factor that Sandra likes, I'm not that bothered about that programme but do like Strictly.

Evening All,
A lot of bosses are just not very good at their job Gill and forget that their staff are their biggest asset. A better approach would have been to tell him not to worry and rest up and get himself fit before he comes back to work. You wouldn't think they would want him there spreading his bugs anyway would you. I hope he soon feels better. We have used Cottages4you as well and found them to be very good. The place we stay in Cornwall is open all year round and as Frank says there are often bargain breaks on offer all over the country.
Altogether we have had 11 viewings booked (some still for next week). One made a silly offer the estate agent turned down and we are still waiting for the builder who was interested to get back to us. The back garden wasn't private enough for some. The estate agent says it's very early days yet so we are trying not to be impatient. :-) It would be great though if it was all done and dusted this year so we can get back to doing the things we want to get on with here.
It's good you are pleased with the mower Frank, despite a bad journey and that you are getting it 100% ready for next spring. OH only likes his pal's satnav for finding directions for the last bit of journeys as he's found they often don't take the quickest routes that he knows from all the places he's driven to in the past. Before he retired the same thing would happen travelling with colleagues using a satnav. I remember him complaining bitterly about a delay coming home from Liverpool when a colleague literally took him round the houses with their satnav. The next time they went OH's way and lopped a good half hour off the journey! Me, I wouldn't know a quick way and am directionally challenged anyway so wouldn't notice. :-S I must see if I can borrow his satnav he hasn't used and try it out as I can get lost anywhere. ;-)
Jane, spending a penny in the countryside is even trickier for us gals if we get dodgy knees!! :-S Why are there always nettles or thistles where you choose as well, something else men don't have to contend with. I remember your postman having to rinse your wall.....quite right too!
I went to a large craft fair at Countesthorpe this afternoon. It's where I lived in my first marital home. It was at the college and the huge carpark was packed but I managed to find just 1 space. Oh the huge humps everywhere are awful for my car. If I don't crawl over them really slowly the front of it scrapes on the tarmac!! The trouble is it's hard to spot some of them as the markings are worn off. There were over 70 stalls and I saw some hedgehogs like Mandy knitted, lots of nice Xmas decorations, fused glass bowls and coasters and jewellery.
Now I need to type a letter to the pension service about FIL next. They have sent a complex letter about his pension credit referring to what we must let them know in the ' new assessed income period'........only they haven't said what that period is?? :-S The letter has thrown up about 5 more questions I need to ask them as well.
Ohhhh the whizz bangs have started again!

OH is 49 Anne and I'm 48, 49 in two weeks so we're both nearly 50 and holding on to our 40's for dear life LOL. I don't think it matters what age you are so long as you are fit and well, that's what matters most and of course happy :-D :-D :-D
OH has decided now that he's not going to be such a softy when it comes to all the overtime they want him to do, if he doesn't feel up to it he'll be saying NO from now on. I think he had a shock when I told him what his boss said about him working tomorrow. He thinks the reason they ask him so much is because they don't want to put their hands in their pockets to pay for Agency workers as that would cost the company more than giving OH the overtime. I did say to OH that if he works to many hours the TAX MAN would take most of it off him anyway, so in effect he'd be doing the odd days for nothing, so why bother.
Thanks everyone for your support and good wishes for OH
Back to Strictly now ;-) ;-)

David I would loved to have had a daughter but because of Mark being such a difficult child and I didn't want any children once I reached 30.Both of my grandmothers had 3 boys and then a girl so I may have been lucky who knows. I am so pleased to have 2 lovely granddaughters who are staying here for the weekend.
Gill 50 is a good age so when you reach it enjoy it :-D
I certainly don't feel my age last year when I was at the diabetic clinic the doctor asked if I would like to do the over 70's mental test. he asked me some questions and did a memory test in which at the beginning had given me a fictional name and address and right at the end I had to repeat it anyway after all this he said to me "there are no flies on you are there" so I was very pleased.
At the arts centre where I worked they have a Christmas craft fair every November over a weekend. It's always very popular,
Gill I have just noticed that your OH doesn't get a hot meal when he is working that is so bad as they probably have food over after the residents have been fed.

Ann, I too am directionally challenged!!!! That is, I get lost the moment I get to the end of the road!!! When I was working in the community, and had to be somewhere really early, I would sometimes do a dummy run just to make sure I didn't get lost on the day!! Sat Nav would have been wonderful, but it was long before they were around! I'm not surprised at your OH's company's attitude Gill. Care companies always seem to be the same, short staffed and chivvying people into work when they aren't well, or need time off for whatever reason. You do have to be very clear about what you will and won't do else you become a willing horse overnight! Although I loved doing the job in the field, in the end I was just thankful when I got a job in the office, and did assessments and administrative work. Mind you the local authority and social services could be a nightmare!! Lots of bangs tonight, but Cas seems pretty laid back about it all! We have a son and daughter. Our son is 51 at Xmas, our daughter is 47; We also have two granddaughters, aged 15 and 12, and my gorgeous grandson aged 8! (our daughters children) They're all lovely, but he is a dear!!

LOL Liz! I had to chuckle as I too have often done the DUMMY run to make sure I could find a place for a meeting etc!! Yes a satnav would have been good then. OH will often say when we are driving somewhere on holiday, 'Oh there's a pub/pillar box/Co-op etc round this corner isn't there'. All he gets back is a blank look!!!! :-S I was just the same visiting company multi storey offices when I was at work too. All the floors looked the same to me and I'd often need assistance to find my way out again. I've said before about walking out of a room into a storage cupboard. The staff there were in tears with laughing. I said, 'you won't forget me coming to see you in a hurry will you'. ;-). Well, it's good to leave a little jollity behind you isn't it. :-)
Off to bed now, I've just seen the time!

Try not to worry Jane, Thomas will be back as soon as he thinks it's safe to do so. He's probably found somewhere to hide until all the noise has stopped, then when that happens I'm sure he'll come home and jump all over you for cuddles. You're not sounding like a grumpy mare, you're just concerned for Thomas, which is absolutely normal. Try and get some sleep if you can.
OH has just taken another antibiotic, so it's bed time for us now. See you all in the morning Night Night <3

good morning all, and afternoon Kim,
What a wonderful programme from the Albert Hall. I had tears in my eyes on several occasions. :-( :-( :-( The Chelsea pensioners always set me off.
I'm more than ready for my bed, but had to see the football results on the computer. West Ham drew and are 5th in the Premiership, I think Arsenal will beat Spurs tomorrow. So we will still be 5th.
I'm off to bed now, sleep tight to those who are still around, see you later.

Good morning one and all.
E's cats have been a bit skittish week or so because of all the fireworks.
The bangs started at least a week earlier than the allotted time and they were
still letting them off late last night. Money up in smoke is my opinion of them.
Ellen and I never had children. Plenty of no hitting and missing but not for
quite some time. What cannot make you laugh cannot make you cry..

Good morning everyone
It's a better day today, Paul, Richard, Becky, Sam and her daughter have all gone off to Brighton for the day so I did a cooked breakfast to keep them going, Abbie didn't want to go so is still in the land of nod.
We watched the remembrance service as well Frank, like you it makes me very teary, I always think of my uncle Charles who was shot by a sniper in France near to the end of the war, I thought the Queen had tears in her eyes as well.
I hope Thomas has returned safely Jane, cats are more of a worry than dogs, in the past all of mine have chosen to stay out all night but since we had the cat flap installed it's not such a problem. I will be glad when all the bangs have stopped, we will probably get more tonight as its a better day.
Just going to get myself some breakfast now the others have gone out. I hope they have a safe journey. Abbie probably won't get up until about mid day
