Morning all

Still raining here today, the heater is on in the hall so it should be a bit warmer soon.

I've found another Christmas channel on Sky and have recorded lots of Christmas films we haven't seen before so the plan today is to stay indoors keep warm and dry have a nice roast as a family and watch some films this afternoon........heaven :-) It's so nice to be a family for a change, pity OH isn't very well but at least we are all together which is lovely, especially for Sandra, she really misses her dad.

Hope Thomas made it home ok last night Jane.

Pleased to hear your West Ham are doing well Frank

Going to get a cuppa now
See you all later

Yes Frank, Albert Hall always affects us in that way, not only the very old, but the very young too. How fantastic they all looked and what a debt we owe them ALL.
You did make me chuckle too Ann, I loved you going into a cupboard! sounds just what I'd do!! Multi-story car parks could be a really confusing to the point of despair! so I always made a note of the level, and hoped for the best!! Thank goodness I don't use them anymore! No wonder I do a lot of shopping on line!!! My blip these days is when I come out of the dentists room after treatment! Our surgery is part of Tetbury Hospital and I always seem to manage to go the wrong way even though they have helpful footprints in the floor, and land up wandering along a corridor, towards a ward!!! Next time I go, I must get a grip!!
Time for D. Dimbleby, he does it so well.

Morning all and evening Kim,

STill a miserable day here today.

We could hear foreworks going off last night but could'nt see any. They are usually over the ig house and therefore we would see them but these must have been behind the trees at the back. They still rang around the garden walls though. I have told you before that the tall walls in our garden act lik ea big ear.

Did you manage to get Thomas in last night Jane?? I hope so as he must have been frightened by all the noise.

Still saw a hedgehog last night and I think it is the same one I see each night at the moment as it has this whiteish spot on its side and its quite fat!!! I do wonder what they think of all the whizzes and bangs on bonfire nights.

I have a mountain of rubbish from the garden to burn but I am so frightened that there could be a hog under it all that I have just left it there. When it does dry out a bit I shall have to very carefully move it across to a new site to set light to it so I know there are no hogs under it and if I do find one I shall have to relocate it like we did when we took the old mower shed down.

Afternoon all,

Behind like a cats tail today. Slept till 8.30 made my tea and sat with the paper. Ros came out 9.35 for her tea. We put the tele. on and watched the Cenotaph parade. What a wonderful sight, all those very proud people marching along with the pride of the world on their shoulders. Ros was surprised to see that YOUNG LAD in full uniform marching along in time with the rest of them Bless his cotton socks !!!

I have just come in from the kitchen having got everything ready for dinner tonight. I will be off to my shower soon.

Did Thomas come in last night or did you get a good nights sleep JANE ??

David, they do say what you never had you don't miss. I wonder at times if it was worth bringing my two up, the way they have treated me. I don't suppose I am the only parent who has gone through it, but my goodness it does hurt at times.

Looks like you have the right idea Gill. A nice family lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

I am hoping to go to the pub at 4.00 pm to see the Arsenal V Spurs match. I will see how Ros feels about me being out Sunday afternoon. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Dry here this morning/Afternoon, but very overcast, so as and when we will get the wet stuff, I am not sure. The forecast doesn't seem that good.

It is a tear jerker Anne I remember particularly my father who was killed before I was born, also my second cousin who died of wounds in North Africa, both very young men in their mid twenties. My Grandfather was in the Light Infantry in WW1, and luckily survived. It was a wonderful parade today Frank. I cant believe how fantastic the Queen and the old Duke looked! All those Chelsea Pensioners looking so smart and the soldiers marching so precisely. We wouldn't miss it for anything as it makes us both feel really proud.
About to have lunch now, roast lamb, brussels and spuds (from the garden,) gravy and mince sauce. After that, a constitutional to blow away the cobwebs!

Frank and others, many years ago, before I ever met mu wife of 35 years I had been in a relationship with a divorcee with 2 young sons.

She told me she wasn't going to have another ie mine
So David made a dumb decision, one he has regretted many times.

He went to Marie Stoppes at Hull and paid £35 for a vasectomy
Didn't do it on the NHS in those days.

The relationship didn't last long. A sensible man would have expected it.

Ellen married me knowing I couldn't give her children, although I've often wondered
if she would have felt whole lot happier with a child or two.

Over the years I enquired. Reversal possible, very long waiting list, no guarantee
of success. But at aged 70 why do I mention it? Do I feel half a man? :-(

Afternoon all,

Clouded over here now but we have seen a little sun .
What a day yesterday it poured for most of the day ,hubby decided he would sweep the chimney as his new rods he ordered had come ,he had to buy some of those flexi rods to get round the bends in our chimney , i must say there wasn't much up there and we had no dust at all in the room ,it isn't soot that comes down or at least it didn't smell sooty it just looks like a fine black dust .

Gill i hope your OH is feeling better with the antibiotics he's now taking ,are you feeling better now ?
It will be nice for you all to sit and have a nice meal together for a change , is Sandra cooking ? i bet she feels so proud cooking for her mum and dad :-D

Yes the Albert Hall and the parade today always brings tears to the eyes ,so many men who never came back , they did give their tomorrow for our today and we should never ever forget that . <3

Not a lot happening here for the rest of the day ,we'll light the fire i think to cheer the place up and find a nice film to watch .

Gillx

Gillx Report 8 Nov 2015 14:56

We've just finished our roast dinner. Yes Mandy, Sandra cooked it and it was delicious, we then had a chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce.....Naughty but nice :-D :-D I did the pudding, but Sandra enjoyed eating it LOL.

We're going to settle down now and start watching some of the films I've recorded. I counted them all on the planner, including the ones I've entered to be recorded over the next week and there are 24 films in total, that should keep us out of trouble for a while lol.

It's just snowed here mixed in with rain, very sleety. It didn't last to long and it's gone dry again now. The sky is full of weird looking clouds though, so I expect there'll be more bad weather before the day ends. So glad we are indoors, I wouldn't want to be outside on a day like this.

Hope the weather isn't to bad for anyone going out today. OH is still feeling under the weather, I should imagine it will take a few days for the antibiotics to kick in then he should start feeling the benefit of them. I'm almost over my illness, but have started with a bit of a sore throat today, I don't think it's what OH has I think it's more to do with my ear being sore, so I can still look after OH or fuss over him, as he calls it ;-) ;-)

Going to do the dishes now then settle down for the afternoon. Sandra said we should of got some popcorn to go with the films....never thought of that, although I haven't got a clue where she'd put it, with everything she's eaten so far today :-D LOL

See you later, enjoy your day whatever you are all doing <3

Afternoon All
A dark and breezy afternoon here.Looks liek there might be rain.In one way I hope there is because Thomas won't want to go out.

I got up at 3am and came downstairs to se if I could call him in..He came running from underthe hedge Bless him.I wonder how long he had been waiting there !!! Anyway he came up to bed with me then and I thought great he would sleep for hours and we could all have a nice lie in. 6.10am he was up and wanting fed and out :-S.
I was so relieved to get him in though. Now I have to decide whether to let him out again today.

What a beautiful Remembrance service it was at The Albert Hall.I thought it was just wonderful (bit teary eyed at times :-( )..I loved the embroidered Poppies on the Bishops Robe thingy.

David ,you made what you thought was the right decision at the time to have a Vasectomy.I am sorry things didn't work out though.I don't think you need to beat yourself up now though as Ellen married you knowing that there would be no children. You have been together a long time now.I'm sure there have been regrets about what could have been but I am sure you have both been happy <3

I lit the Woodburner like you Mandy ,juat to cheer the place up a bit.It really isn't cold enough and seems a waste of logs really ...but hey what the heck :-D :-D

Gill I hope you have all enjoyed your Roast Dinner and that OH was feeling well enough to eat it all up.Did you say Sandra was going to be Head Chef again?

I have made my Normandy Pork again. It is all done now and will just need reheating later.I thought it would be a waste doing a Roast today as James is stiill feeling pretty grotty.

I think he and Jess have just booked an appartment in Paris for New Year for James's 30th........Gill have a look at AirBnB..It is a brilliant thing where you can rent a flat/house/appt or even just a room anywhere in the world just about.Great value.Just a thought if you are still thinking of having a trip down to Devon sometime.
Both Hannah and James have used this site .James has just used it again now for Paris.Hannah booked her accomodation in America this year through Air bnb

I just remembered ,,I haven't chopped up the Tarragon to go in the casserole ..I can't miss that out so better do it now before I forget.

Anne

Anne Report 8 Nov 2015 15:30

Jane, I'm so glad Thomas turned up safe and sound perhaps it would be a good idea to keep him in now the colder, darker nights are here.

We had two cats prior to the ones we have now, again brother and sister, Lucy and Sam both fluffy moggies one ginger and the other black with just a spec of white on her front. Sam went missing and was found in next doors shed, another time we had a delivery and when the driver looked in his wing mirror Sam was sitting in the back, again when we had a new central heating system installed the plumber just caught site of him disappearing under the floor boards, These two never brought any vermin in thankfully.

When my friends cat went missing for a long time she had given up hope of him turning up and had got a new kitten, Her husband had to go to a meeting in the midlands and was talking to another delegate about cats and he mentioned theirs as he only had half a tail when Rob mentioned this she said her mother who lived a few miles away from them had found a stray that sounded the same as theirs when they went to look it was their cat.

We found a stray in our garden some time ago but fortunately he had a disc on so I rang the number and the whole family came to collect him along with a bottle of wine for us. He had travelled from Sandhurst which is a few miles away, he could have come through the forest or like Sam hitched a lift
'
No roast for us today either as its only Abbie and I. We had one of Sainsburys just cook dinners which consisted of chicken breast wrapped in bacon , chippolatas[sp]
and sausage meat balls plus a sachet of gravy, carrots, peas and croquettes the main part wouldn't have been enough for Richard and Paul they could have eaten one of those each

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Nov 2015 15:52

I'd keep Thomas in tonight Jane just in case there might be more fire work bangs tonight , he must have been so scared poor thing ,we never heard many last night but i'am wondering if that was because of the wet weather and we'll hear some tonight .

Next doors cats are devils ,we had one go in the shed and didn't know it next door had been hunting for it high and low ,i happened to go in the shed and Toby followed me in ,he went crazy sniffing all round so i told next door and they came and called him ,he came out after a while i think he might have come out before but with Toby going in it frightened him ,they hop into workmans vans too ,one even had a ride down the road on the top of a van !!

Oh Chocolate pud and chocolate sauce yummy ,i bought a chocolate trifle yesterday ,we had a portion each yesterday and there's enough for today :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Nov 2015 16:35

I don't like chocolate trifle.

It has been really windy here today all day. I just let the banties out for a bit of a stretch and they all went by the box hedge where there is a little wall to shelter from the gusts. They don't like the wind. They have all been in their bedroom part of the house all day.

Bet Glyn loved his dinner cooked by Sandra. She is getting really good at it now is'nt she?

I don't like these dark nights. I don't seem to be able to get so much done. I was hoping to have another go at what I am making but as soon as lunch in over and the washing up done and a coffee made it is time to let the banties out and corn the chickens and banties and then it is getting dark and time to feed the hogs, yes still have one feeding and saw it again three times last night.

Final of Downton tonight and its an extended one. Nothing to look forward to now next year apart from the second series of Poldark which they have started filming.

I hope we get some more of those programs about the womens institute, was it called Home Fires?

Jane Report 8 Nov 2015 16:36

I often wonder where Thomas came from.He was neutered but not chipped. So someone had cared for him at some point.I did all I could to find an owner but now I am glad I didn't find one :-D..He is ours now :-D :-D
Maybe he got in a van or something and has travelled a long way lol Maybe he is Scottish :-D :-D..Cats do do these daft things don't they.Thet are just curious and then get themselves into trouble.
I have just made sure the back door is shut :-D I see so many posters sometimes asking people to check sheds and garages for lost cats.

I had a phone call just now from our friend Mark in Washington with new baby Freya. We did face time which was so lovely.Little Freya was lying on Marks Chest. He was in his dressingown and she was snuggled inside :-D.Mum was having a sleep and so Mark was on duty.I remember Mark as a 4 yr old.It seems strange to see him with a little baby.He is loving it :-D :-DBaby just 6 days old

Just seen what time Downton finishes tonight..Late for us but we will have to try and stay awake.
It is so hot in here now I have had to open windows !!!!.....Sorry Gill .If you stay where you are could you have a wood burner installed? They don't half chuck out some heat and in a bungalow the heat would probably go right through .
Mel when are you going to let us know what you are making?????

It's warm in here too now ,we have the door into the conservatory open, it is mild out but it's nice to have the fire just to cheer the dark nights up.
