I'll give the council a ring too, thanks Mandy. I watched Grand Designs with the cave, it was really good in the end wasn't it? I didn't think it would be any good when I saw the condition it was in to start with, but it was quite a transformation.

It does sound like you have a good deal Liz, how nice of him to offer to look after Cassie and to take care of Merlin for you too. Mind you he gets a good deal from you as well. It's nice to do for other's isn't it. We have a neighbour who is very good to OH if ever he needs wood or screws or pretty much anything and we help our neighbours out too. It's really a good street to live in.

OH has just got in from work absolutely freezing, he said it was snowing this afternoon in the next village where he works. We only got rain, so Sandra was a bit disappointed, but if it stays as cold as it is now, she might wake up to snow in the morning. That would make her day <3 I hope our pipes will be ok, I'm worried about them freezing up.......roll on next week, so I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I did'nt see the one with the cave Mandy. Oh usually has it on but so many of them are repeats. This must be the new serise.

Went to Holsworthy this afternoon for oh's cider as its the only other place I have found that sells this brand.

Made something different tonight. same principal but different. Nearly finished the other things too. Just need to make two more.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Wet and very blustery today and dull with it.

Nothing planned for today just the usual up the shop for the paper and feed the chickens and bantams and wildies who are eating me out of house and home at present. Just as well I stocked up in the pet shop yesterday. Must put them some fat sticks out in the sunflower hearts feeder with the hearts. They only have one peanut feeder out as the last two I put out all the nuts went mouldy and I had to scrub the feeder out

Frank Report 14 Nov 2015 11:53

Morning my lovelies, Evening Kim,

Wet miserable day here also Mel, It's that horrible drizzle, but not so much wind.

I didn't want to eat last night. So when I came back from the match I had some toast and Pate. I had Chicken stir fry at about 10.30 this morning. I quite enjoyed it. Made a nice change from My Mate on toast or a Bacon Sarnie :-D :-D :-D

Sounds like you laid on a spread yesterday lunchtime Jane. I'm sure you all must have enjoyed it, washed down with a couple of bottles of VINO. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mandy, Children say some wonderful things at times like this. I bet it bought a lump to your throat. <3 <3 <3 BLESS HER !!

Ros went round Carolyn's yesterday afternoon to collect some windfalls to take to Martine this morning. Would you ADAM AND EVE IT There was a barrow load of apples. They put them in "BAGS FOR LIFE" and loaded her boot up. Martine will distribute loads around her neighbours and work mates. AND THE FOUR TREES are still loaded with apples. Carolyn thinks it's the best year ever this year, as the fruit is in excellent condition. Only the odd spec. here and there.

I have peeled and stewed another two saucepans full this morning. They are cooling off ready to be bagged up later.

If you have the weather like I have, I won't expect you, like me will be doing much today. But whatever you do, enjoy yourselves and keep safe.

What do you all think about this Paris lot. Words can't express my feelings :-( :-( :-(

Frank I know you and I think exactly the same as I imagine all right minded people do. Heaven only knows where it's all going to end, but wherever it does, it won't be good!! The real problem is that we're dealing with monsters, and how you deal with them is anybody's guess.
Drizzly and windy here this morning, but not cold. OH is has the chainsaw and logsplitter out this morning and is tackling all the timber that came yesterday. He reckons, counting what we already have, that there's enough for two winters!!! I've tidied up the lupins, and swept up some more leaves!! Cas had a real burn up in the stubble field and is now asleep!! I think over having a dog, you have to weigh up the joy they give you against the heart ache of losing them. I wouldn't have been without any of ours (we're on number 6!!) even though, Millie in particular, caused us so much joy and so much grief, as undoubtedly Cas will!!!

Afternoon All

It is our Maureens birthday today
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN <3 <3 <3..I hope you have a wonderful day.

Oh my goodness this terrible terrible thing in Paris :-( :-( :-(..It is just unimaginable .
My heart goes out to all <3
Le Carillon one of the places that was attacked is one of the places I had on my list to go when we were in Paris .
James and Jess have just booked their trip to Paris for New Year.I hope that things will be ok there by then so that they are still able to go.
I see people are queuing up to give blood there now.

I have been out and restocked our wine rack !!.Fitz brought up with him yesterday a very nice wine from NewZealand. So I have just got 6 bottles of that one :-D
We did have a nice time Frank and as usual sat and chatted, ate and drank .I think Fitz left about 5pm...Strangly one of the conversations we had was about terrorist attacks and that it was only time before something bad happened again..........and then we wake up today to hear of the terror in Paris :-S

It has started to rain now (just light at the moment). It is dark and pretty dismal so the Woodburner has been lit :-D :-D
You know who is asleep on the settee.I can't see him wanting to go out so I better put the litter tray down.
I got my neighbours dogs name wrong yesterday. It was Meg (Not Cassie) that had to be put to sleep.Cassie was their old dog before Meg.And I see your DIL's parents too had to say goodbye to their dog yesterday Mandy <3 .

Mel I hope all your birds have had there sensible heads on this morning and kept under cover away from any shooting.

Really dreary here ,started raining mid morning and it's been raining off and on since .

Yes Frank it did bring a big lump to my throat ,every now and then some thing starts me off .
He was such a lovely old boy i still see him every where :-( he just went down so quickly.
Yes it's so very sad all these shootings ,all those poor people just out enjoying themselves , goodness knows where it will end .!!

What a nuisance the envelopes were missing Mel, and i bet there not the standard size envelope either or you could just buy a few to use with the cards .
Hope the shoot doesn't frighten the girls to much.

Good Afternoon Everyone

Happy Birthday To Maureen

It's been raining all day here and I have just spotted a heron by our bottom pond, he flew off when I opened the kitchen door fortunately he was empty beaked!

Like Jane's Thomas my three cats are all indoors, one in my bedroom, one in the conservatory and her brother on a kitchen chair, all fast asleep, Amy is as well but she is here with me on her bed.

It was awful those shootings in Paris so many innocent people killed. I don't understand what these blood thirsty thugs hope to achieve.

Richard has gone to Reading to start some Christmas shopping it only takes about 20 minutes from the our station not much longer than getting to Bracknell town from here.

My eldest son Mark who lives in Hastings also had birthday cards go missing with money in them from Richard and Burton's vouchers from me, they were both posted together . We now put money directly into his bank account but this year of course we were able to meet up with him on the day.

Afternoon all

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN. Hope you have a great day.

Dull and raining here, but a lot warmer than yesterday, which is good.

I saw the shootings on the news this morning, all those poor people, they must of been terrified.

Sandra and I have been watching a few films, the weather is to bad to do anything else. I've been trying to work out how to decorate the living room for Christmas this year as the furniture has changed now so I can't do it like I did last year. I tried to get some ideas at the garden centre the other night but nothing looked right. I always make something, but haven't started anything yet.......must get my thinking cap on :-S :-S

It sounds like you're still busy with the apples Frank, we've still got some at the top of our big apple tree, they are starting to fall off, a few each day. They're to high for OH to pick so we're just throwing them away, each day, as they fall. We have enough frozen now and also some stored in the garage, so don't need anymore and everyone we've given apples to don't want anymore either. There has been so many this year, more than any year in the past.

magpie

magpie Report 14 Nov 2015 16:01

Forgive me Mel, but like what? Faced by murdering gunmen, I'm not quite sure what anyone could do about it!! A lot of those killed were very young people, others just people enjoying a night out, all of them unarmed, don't think there is much any of them could do except pray. I think our collective governments are going to have to get a grip on this terrible situation as this won't be the last attack by these monsters; first that aircraft and now this, I think anyone visiting a western capital city needs to be very vigilant for who knows how long.

Anne

Anne Report 14 Nov 2015 17:19

When we first moved here we had a very old cottage with a large garden and there were nine ancient apples trees but still produced a lot of fruit. We lived there for 10 years and Peter had built our sons a tree house at the bottom of the garden.
sadly Bracknell being a new town the cottage had to be pulled down.

I do worry about my brother being caught up with these horrific attacks that come out of the blue with no warnings as a lot of his work takes in foreign capitals.
Mel perhaps some of these poor people did try and stand up to these awful people but are not alive to say, decent people don't go out for the evening carrying weapons in case something like this happens

magpie

magpie Report 14 Nov 2015 17:35

They could well have done Anne and as you say, wouldn't be alive to tell the tale.; Remember 9/11 when those brave people rushed the terrorists on one of the planes, flight 93. Sadly they were all killed but managed to avoid the intended target crashing in a field, and saving a lot of lives. We know this as it was recorded on the black box.
Mrs Merkel seems strangely silent!!!

Frank

Frank Report 14 Nov 2015 18:57

So typical Liz, Merkel soon has plenty to say when it comes to everyone pouring money into Europe. But when you need the backing of the Germans, they keep their mouths shut. !! I suppose it's nice in some way's not to hear her Blabbing her mouth off. !!!

What a total write off the day has been. After my Chicken stir fry this morning I got on with preparing TWO saucepans of apples and stewed them down.

Ros came back from shopping just as I had finished the 2nd lot. We had lunch and she sorted out her flowers (she buys fresh each Saturday) then did the bagging of the apples.

Tonight I had a wing of Skate and she had a plaice. Most unusual for her as she doesn't eat fish.

All washed up and tidied away. Now to relax (AGAIN) to watch T.V. Nat Geo is bound to have something worth watching. I can't stand X factor and nor that keen on the dancing programme.

ITV 3 is bound to have a Midsummer or Lewis on later. The trouble is I have seen most of them.

Have a good evening all. See you tomorrow.

I did wish Maureen a B'day on FB this morning.

Annx Report 14 Nov 2015 20:47

Evening All,

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN <3 <3 <3 I hope you had a good one.

What a little sweetheart Katie is Mandy. He was obviously on her mind and out it came. :-) Sorry to hear your DIL's parents lost their dog too.

Liz I think I watched that prog. One chap made a home from a metal container like you see carried on ships and lorries and floated it at a mooring. He wanted to be mortgage free. It was fantastic. The bed slid apart sideways to reveal steps below the floor where clothes rails stored all your clothes out of sight. Most of one side was folding glass doors. I've been watching another prog where the NT restore old buildings and that is very interesting too.

It's only a matter of time before things happen here. OH won't even consider visiting London near Christmas time, nor would he go to watch sport at a large stadium. The more of these people there are, the more likely they will get in positions of influence and then control. I can't see a good future as things are.

We had a great day doing the beaded flowers, but were at a standstill on a dual carriageway 10 minutes into the journey there. My friend's hubby was at home trying to find out what the holdup was for us while we chatted to the chap in the car in front who'd got out and come over to us. We assumed it was a pile up as it is the fast outer ring road. Anyway all of a sudden things got moving again and it turned out that a pony was loose on the dual carriageway!! It was a pretty small pony, chestnut with a white star on its forehead. Luckily we'd allowed some extra time so weren't late and it was a great crowd at the class so it was a day of laughter really. The teacher's hubby kept us in drinks and refreshments, cakes, biccies, choccies, crisps etc. The beadwork was very tricky according to the teacher so after a while and a few unwelcome knots to untange, I asked if she had a darkened room to lie down in!! We all eventually got the hang of it, so next year I shall make a posh poppy to wear. We all came away with more beads we bought and we got some very nice free patterns she designs herself. Her 3 cats made regular visits hoping for their tea!! One is 19 years old but you'd never guess it as she seems to have all her faculties and is sprightly!

When we got back to my friend's she got her hubby to come and look at the brass coloured lion doorstop I had in the boot from MIL's. (he used to deal in antiques etc) He said it is solid brass and not brass plated like I'd thought and should come up a treat. I found it left out under bushes and all tarnished with rust from the bolts through the base!

His lordship is wanting to watch tv in bed, some things we've recorded so I'd better go!
