Frank Report 26 Nov 2015 09:51

Morning Folks, Evening Kim,

Very still type of morning here. Cloudy but no breeze.

Mandy, Ros has tried both Metal and Plastic bobbing's and still gets the same result. Margaret was a sewing teacher, so with a bit of luck she will be able to sort out the problem.

Oh what a pleasure you have Jane having Thomas around to keep you so active and alert. :-D :-D :-D As David said He's bringing you presents. My cat did it all the time. What a little treasure he is (NOT) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Nice to hear that Maureen hasn't lost her touch in the building department. I think she is competent enough to do a total rebuild on a house on her own <3 <3 <3
It there much more to do on your Sons house Maureen ??

All tucked up in bed by 11.00 pm. Slept right through till 6.00 am. Usual trip to the bathroom, then I laid till 7.30 and got up and had my two big COT Ros was out in the lounge by 8.00 So all early birds today.

SHE'S STOPPED COUGHING !!!! So I think the Antibiotics are doing their job !!

I think Tony next door has given up SMOKING. !!!! I haven't seen or heard him on his Patio. He has to ring the doctor for the results of his X RAY. I must remember to ask him.

What are you all up to today then ?? No plans this end. Apart from sorting What to have for Dinner tonight. Decision's I have to make every day. When I ask Ros what she fancies, it's always the same answer. WHATEVER COMES OUT FIRST.

Morning All

I'm pleased to hear Ros has stopped coughing Frank, I hope the sewing machine sells now that the problem has been fixed

Jane, Thomas the Terminator is a busy boy.I have only had one dead body so far this week, it was either a small rat or a very large mouse.

Good luck with your viewing Gill.

I have only just finished breakfast, I had the Sainsbury delivery at 8 it was a larger then normal one as it included a lot of Christmas food all with long sell by dates, so it took a while to put it all away

I also had the washing machine on and then the tumble drier so that lots all in the airing cupboard as none of it needed ironing.

It made me think how lucky we are today compared to a couple of generations or so ago,no central heating hot water or electricity in a lot of cases plus maybe an outside loo. No National Health or pensions. Apart from all that I think on the whole they were probably a lot more contented

I'm shortly taking Amy for her walk, she's fast asleep at the moment .

Morning all and evening Kim,

Same day here as you have there I think Frank. Still but cloudy and what I call a secret day.

On mums machines there is a button on the front with numbers on it for the tension. Just mentioning it and also on one of her machines if it was threaded slightly wrong that would make the tension go loose on the back. sometimes its just such a silly little thing that you forget after using a new machine.

All stocked up for Christmas then Anne. I bought my turkey crown last week and it is stowed away in the freezer, the only other thing I need to get is a nice piece of beef and a small gammon. That should keep us two going.

Must pay the telly licience so see you all later.

Morning all

Cloudy here today and it looks like it's been raining again. Dry at the moment but for how long, who knows??

Pleased to hear Ros isn't coughing anymore Frank, it sounds like the antibiotics are starting to work. Hope the sewing machine is sorted now.

So we'll hear soon what you've been making Mel, I'm looking forward to seeing some pics. Nice to hear from Maureen, it does sound like she's very busy at the moment. I pay my TV licence by direct debit, that way I don't forget to get it.

You've had a busy morning Anne, by the sounds of it. I must start making some room in my freezer ready for our turkey. I'm running so late this year, normally I've got everything almost done by now. At least all the present shopping is finished and wrapped up ready, apart from a couple of small things I need to get for Sandra and we are hoping to put the tree and decorations up soon too.

Glad to hear you had a nice time at the cinema yesterday Jane. So Thomas has caught the mouse now, that was handy, although bringing it indoors wasn't so good. At least you manage to get him and the mouse outside, so you don't need to worry anymore.

Nothing planned here for today, apart from the usual housework. Sandra is still asleep, she must of had a late night and OH is in work. I might have a route around for the Christmas cards I bought, then I can make a start on those.

Afternoon all,

We have lovely sun shine here with hardly a cloud in the sky ,it was clear first thing then all of a sudden about nine o'clock in came the fog it seem strange after the clear start to the day ,but by ten it was gone .

Oh Jane poor old Thomas i bet his name was mud last night !! ,perhaps you should let him in the garage now and again to flush them out :-D

Hope Ros has got the problem with the sewing machine sorted out , it's a devil just as she wants to sell it it goes wrong , mine has a little screw that you can tighten or loosen just under where the bobbin goes in and that changes the tension ,but as Mel said they do have the dial that has the numbers on that alters the tension but Ros will know that i'am sure ,don't know what else to say to help .
Glad to hear that her cough has eased .

So your getting stocked up for christmas then Anne , i have been getting bits for the freezer for a few weeks now and i have a box i fill with pickles , nuts and nibbles .

I must make a start on my christmas cards too ,i think i have everyones address except yours Anne ,perhaps you could PM me with it if you would like a card :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Nov 2015 13:04

Yes Anne I would also like your address please?

Still hav'nt done the telly licience but I have till the 30th so the money can stay in the bank till then.

Need to get some chicken food either today or tomorrow so I know I am ok for that for another month.

I was wondering if Ros had knocked sopmething whilst putting the old machine away to throw the tention out. Glad the cough has gone for her as there's nothing worse than the tummy ache it causes when you are continuosly coughing apart from the sore throat it causes too.

I have written all my cards now except Anne's.

Time now to start to get the lunch then the rest of the afternoon is mine till I have to prepare dinner and I am not sure what to get yet.

Ruby

Ruby Report 26 Nov 2015 13:32

Hello all,

I got up and let Lucy out for a while and made a pot of tea. She's back in her basket and I'm back in bed with a cuppa.

I'm going to skip breakfast, because the luncheon feast is going to be at noon. I put my squash casserole together yesterday, so just have to bake it this morning. It'll still be hot when I get there. I used up the last 3 bags of squash from the freezer. It has chopped onions sautéed in butter, grated carrot, eggs, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, grated cheese, plenty of pepper and salt and half a bag of Pepp. Farm cornbread stuffing, then more cheese on top. Oh, and I also added a little pimiento pepper. My dessert just has to be warmed up.

Mel, Anne explained about the McDonald's line to you, I can see where it would sound odd. At this particular McDonalds, there are two lines for placing your order. They are staggered so then it merges into one line. When you place your order, the voice on the machine tells you how much it will be, and you then can have your money ready by the time you reach the first window. The person there already knows what the next several orders are. You then drive to the second window and your food is handed to you. It goes very quickly. I told my daughter about the man paying for our lunch and she said it is called "Paying it forward."
In turn, you can do something nice for someone.

The machine tensions can be very tricky Frank. You can make an adjustment as Mel said, I messed around with the bobbin tension one time, and had a horrible time getting it straight. It's a little screw on the bobbin case- don't mess with that.

That Thomas really is a corker Jane. You could write a children's story.

I am finally going to have my garage work started Monday and it should take them about a month. Meanwhile, son has sold his house and they should close next week. They are moving their bedroom furniture in here this weekend and they rent some pods to store the rest of their stuff for now. We were held up because of DHEC. Since I am having a bed in my new abode, they consider that to be another bedroom, and as such I am having to have a 100' extension dug for the septic lines. No matter that there have never been more than two people living here at one time. They allow for 2 people per bedroom, so 4 bedrooms would be 8 people, hence the septic line extension. Anyway, we now have the necessary permits, so will start Monday morning.

Black Friday starts today. It has always been the day after Thanksgiving, but now everyone are trying to jump the gun and open on the Thursday evening. There really are some good buys to be had, and many people enjoy that mad shopping spree. I shall give it a miss :-D

Must be off. I need to jump in the shower - well, hardly jump. I shall stagger in, holding on to the bars like grim death :-D
I'm going to move into the other bathroom after today because son and DIL weill have mine. I shall miss it - it's big and has two sinks, a huge bath which I never use, and a corner shower. Also the walk-in closet, and the loo is separate. The shower in the other bathroom is over the bath, so I hope I can lift my legs over. If not, they'll have to share for a while.

Tata for now. We have bright sunshine, but it's very cold out.

Another busy morning!! Talked to daughter on the phone, then OH and I went out to buy some padlocks and security chain to thief proof Cas's car crate. This will mean we can take her out with us without the fear of her being stolen. This has become a worry these days as dog theft is a problem.
Then onto Waitrose to do a biggish shop, then into Malmesbury for the Chemist and a quick wander around.
Now I'm just about to take Cas out leaving OH to do the crate security!!

Afternoon All

Enjoy your thanksgiving meal Ruby.I must say that Squash Disg sounds very tasty.

I like the sound of your bathroom.Hopefully you will manage the shower in the other one.Just don't get stuck getting over the side of that bath !!!!!! (OR FALL)

Anne please send me your address too :-) and like Mandy if you would like mine please say.

Mel you are good having done ALL YOUR CARDS ALREADY(oops capitals )
I made start just now on mine.I have done 6 LOL I opened one box only to find that the greeting in half the cards had been put in upside down :-S :-S.So if I can find the receipt I will be taking them back to TK Max.I have a feeling I bought a Xmas present at the same time so the receipt should be in an envelope with all pressie receipts .

Mandy I think that idea of yours is a good one.Thomas will certainly sniff out any mice in the garage.I thin khe may be better than putting down poison

Ruby I don't know about him being a corker .But I can certainly think of some other names for him (unprintable LOL)

Liz I see so many things these days about dogs being stolen. It seems to be getting far worse .It really is shocking.I'm sure Cas's crate will be like Fort Knox :-D

Gill I hope you find your cards .I bet if you have to buy more they will then turn up.That always happens with anything.

I am glad Ros seems to be getting better now Frank and that her cough seems to have cleared and that she hasn't passed any nastys on to you.

I am just going to finish off some ironing and get the bed ready for Hannah tomorrow.

Frank i see the Nutri Ninja Blender is less than half price in Argos £39-99 instead of £94-99 :-0 i suppose it's to late now if you have already bought one ,i thought it was a good saving !!

I meant to say hubby's money has gone in the bank from the B&CE :-D so it was all legit .

I must have pulled my shoulder / top of my arm some time as when i put my arm at a certain position it gives me some pain :-0 i don't feel it all the time just when i put my arm to the side to get up from the chair .

Evening All,

That's a nice little bonus in time for Christmas Mandy! You will have to treat yourselves. ;-)

It's been a bit drizzly here at times today and seems colder tonight too.

Happy Thanksgiving Day Ruby. Your squash recipe does sound very nice. Yes, take care getting in and out of the bath! I can't use a bath now because of my knees but still use the shower over the bath rather than the 'proper' shower as the shower curtain is easier to bung in the washer than clean the glass of the shower cubicle. When OH has had a bath with lots of bubbles and I have a shower after it can be like a skating rink in the bottom!! :-0 Good luck with your alterations.

Same with me Anne re swapping addresses if you wish. :-)

It's good that Ros has stopped coughing Frank......the meds must be doing the trick. I have had that problem with my machine too. I found it was usually something wrong with the threading up of the machine or it needed the screw in the bobbin tightening or loosening. What a nuisance for it to happen at the time you were selling it.

I see Thomas is keeping you entertained Jane with more 'mouse' episodes!!! We wanted to see Brooklyn but we didn't get chance when it was on round here. We might get to see it at Warwick Arts though. I hope you find some cards to replace your wonky ones.

Those high winds we had have blown 3 wooden fence panels down in our neighbour's side fence. He's got new ones ready to put in. Also Virgin have arrived in the close with all their equipment to lay cables. I don't think they will extend in front of us at the end of the close as our road is private but it will be chaos getting in and out. They suggest people move their cars so they don't get blocked in, but where to? Their vehicles etc will be taking up most of the spaces on the close. :-S

The man at the hospital has just received a list of the questions I might be asked tomorrow and has sent them on to me. I'd better get my thinking cap on as there are some I hadn't thought of!!!! :-0 lol.

We had the fav carvery today which was very nice and mine was followed by a treacle sponge and custard......a nice winter pud. :-)

Jane Report 26 Nov 2015 19:03

Mandy that is brilliant that the payout for OH is now in the bank .Just in time for Christmas. Not that you will want to blow it all on that lol.Such a nice surpise too seeing OH didn't even know he was due anything :-D :-D

That is some saving on that blender !!!.Lots of good deals in the next few days.I can't bring myself to go shopping tomorrow .No doubt there will be scrums again like last year.I might go and have a look on Sunday.I did buy a shirt for James this morning in M&S £8 off :-)

Your shoulder sounds painful Mandy.Have you any of that Voltarol Pain Eze Gel to rub in.It is brilliant stuff.I had to laugh when Janice and Larry were here.He has a painful condition in one of his feet called Planter Faschiatis so was hobbling.Janice and her bad knee,me with my hip and Chris with his shoulder.Load of old Crocks !!!!!
How sad :-S :-S

I have a house full again for the weekend.Hannah and Jess both arrive tomorrow afternoon.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 26 Nov 2015 19:28

Yes it was a nice surprise and as you say hubby didn't even know he was due any thing .

I have rubbed the top of my arm with the Voltarol gel ,it's fine while i keep it still but i forget myself and move it and it shots with pain :-S

I won't be going out tomorrow ,i remember last year how busy it was ,i have the family coming tomorrow for tea so i'll be busy cooking as they want a Beef Cobbler .
On sunday it's the switch on of our town christmas lights ,we don't normally go but this year they are having a continental market selling all sorts so i might have a look .

Jane

Jane Report 26 Nov 2015 19:44

I love a Continental Market. We haven't had one here for a couple of years now.It is always quite expensive but nice to buy a few things that you won't get here at home.
Just 2 things on tv tonight that I want to see.
Secret life of 5 year olds and I'm a Celeb' get me out of here.I will have to watch one on catch up.I think it will be the 5 year olds that I will watch. It's brilliant.
Hope the Gel works Mandy and pain killers .You want to have the shoulder as pain free as possible before you go to bed .
Just dishing up dinner .Peri Peri Chicken and Potato Wedges plus Asparagus.

I've recorded the 5 year olds one Jane, also the doctor one. The planner in the bedroom is almost full now so anything else will have to be recorded on the lounge one till we watch a few.

I think they have a continental market in the city here Mandy. It should be interesting to go and see what's on offer. OH would be snaffling the free samples. :-S I'm going to a couple of Christmas tree festivals in December. They seem to be getting more popular now. The beading group I went to just the once is dressing a tree at one all with beaded ornaments they've made. I hope your shoulder soon improves. I wonder if this colder weather has triggered all these aches and pains a few of us are getting?

FIL has had a couple more falls and had to go to hospital the first time to be checked out. Last time he cut his head and had to have it bandaged up but the staff said he was fine and still cheerful. The trouble is he will get up himself to walk about and without his walker at times. I expect he forgets. We've heard the other residents shout to him when he gets up, so they all know he needs his walker now!! His friend Jack isn't there anymore now. He was there for respite care apparently. Anyway, he still calls in to see FIL every week which is nice. FIL's new friend is Ivy who thinks he is a gentleman. MIL would not have liked that!! lol ;-)

Morning all and evening Kim,

Cloudy once again today. not been out yet so don't know what its like outside, whether its cold or not.

Bought a little Christmas tree (artificial) in the charity shop yesterday for £1. It is a fibre optic one and runs on batteries which are already in it and it works!! It's only 9" high sitting in a 3" high basket and it flashes from red to green. Ideal for the top fo the pc.

Bit of a dodgy tum this morning but my back/hip is a lot better.
