Gillx Report 2 Dec 2015 13:01

Afternoon all

Just had the agent on the phone with the feedback from yesterday's viewing and they don't want to buy our bungalow, reason being, they don't like the street. That's the second or third person to say that, but like the agent said there's nothing I can do about the street. Everyone so far has said they like the bungalow and the garden so that's a positive I suppose.

I've just looked online and can't find anything I like to buy, so not selling just yet isn't a problem. I may take you up on your offer of your shed Frank, if we do end up selling soon ;-) It's your injection that caused your problem then, is there anything the doctor can do about that??
So Ros has made a start on your tree now, that should make you feel a little happier, Sandra is starting with the countdown, now it's December......bless her.

It's nice to hear Matteo is settling in nursery ok Fiona, I bet everyone's relieved. He'll soon make lots of new friends and he has the nativity to look forward to as well, so that will help him settle too.

Have you tried making your own pom pom ring Mel, I used to make them out of two pieces of card cut into circles with holes in the middle, that way you can make them the size you need.

It's very calm here, no rain or wind, so I'll probably get all your bad weather later :-( :-(
That'll be a nuisance as it knocks the TV off if the weather is to bad.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Dec 2015 13:26

O I am glad someone else had said the wind knocks the telly out . We thought it was just us being surrounded by trees in the wrong direction.

Iv'e been up the woods.......................................on my own. I collected some nice fluffy stuff and got some holly berries on the way back so I am all set to start wiring now.

Frank I don't make the ring up the church I make it here at home and wire it to a stand I have and it stands up by the alter within the sanctury. I am doning them in the shed again this year as long as there is enough light and its not too cold. I may bring some stuff in to wire during the evening but shall cut it all up in the shed where it makes a mess.

What a blow about peeps not liking your street Gill. Still better luck next time.

Years ago if my memory is not playing tricks there used to be a TV

programme called something like house swap. You could by arrangement swap your

hose with another, in the next country, for a month, for 6 months, whatever.

Cheaper than renting elsewhere, better than a hotel.

Wonder why it never caught on?

Frank

Frank Report 2 Dec 2015 15:57

David, There is a Company that pester me by Email for HOUSE SWAP They have properties all over the world. I am sure one of these rich Americans wouldn't want to swap with my little bungalow. Unless they want to just have a base in the Northamptonshire Countryside, to tour around the sites of the Midlands or London (London is about 65 miles from me)

Gill what a pity about your street. What's wrong with it ?? I would have thought a street is a street. It's the home that matters :-D :-D

Mel, You naughty girl, going off to the woods !!! You might have met the BIG BAD WOLF then you would have been in trouble. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros got home about 3.15 pm The place she goes holds about 40 woman and their machines. Today there were only 15 people. They must have heard about the accidents. Ros did see one. A Post Office Lorry had mounted a steep bank and under it was a small car. Didn't look good for the car driver/passenger. Then a mile up the road, on the opposite side of the road, was a car buried in the hedge with POLICE TAPE all around it. Again smashed to bits. When are these drivers going to slow down on these roads and take more care ???

They were pleased with her contribution with EIGHT blankets made at home. She has bought home TWO big bags of materials for more. I don't know when she will find time with all her other activities. Mind you the next session over there isn't until FEB.

Mel do you remember the old card board milk tops (I'm sure you do) ;-) ;-) ;-) We use to make pom-poms out of those. Just the right size and with the hole already in the centre. I use to make them and hang them on my nieces and nephews Prams, and they loved to grab at them.

Madam hAS DECIDED TO TAKE BOTH OUR MOBILE PHONES TO GET SOME CREDIT PUT ON THEM. (sorry) Them she's going to Morrison's 7 pence a litre on petrol. She's bound to pop in and get some bits and pieces, as she is at "STITCHERY DO" from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm tomorrow. So another quite day for me.

I am so hot I am stripped to the waist, and there's no heating on. Will have to think about starting dinner soon, then BOY will I be HOT. with the oven and hob on. ;-) ;-)

Afternoon All
Frank I think someone was killed to day in one of those accidents :-( and Monday the young lad in the accident near Broughton.

David you are right there was a programme called House Swap.I used to enjoy watching that.Often one family would move into a really lovely large house and the other family would end up wth something not at all to their taste lol

Oh dear Gill.I am sorry you have no sale again. What is your road like.Is it all residential?I am guessing it is.As you say you can't do anything about that.

Mel I used to love walking through the woods.I never found it spooky. The only time I got a fright was one day when I was taking Chester for a walk .He was off the lead and suddenly ran towards something. It was in fact a chap called Peter who used to just sit down and draw.He is still around.A very odd person with a huge untamed beard .Looks like a tramp but I think lives with his Mum.He never speaks. He is completely harmless but I can see that anyone coming across him in the woods like that would want to run a mile !!

Fiona ,little Matteo sounds like he is loving Nursery.Maybe these tears at the beginning are now like a habit.Hannah used to be the same.A few minutes after I had left her she had forgotten all about me.

I have had a rubbish day with this hip again :-S It has got me down a bit :-S
I only went out to go to the Post Office to get stamps for the Xmas cards.I have run out and need some more.Just a few.At least I have now written them all now :-D.So that is one job done .My mouth tastes horrible with the glue off the envelopes.

Fitz is coming for lunch tomorrow.I hope I feel a bit more sociable than I have done today.I am just going to do soup and crusty bread and Cheese.Chris bought a lovely big loaf today at Waitrose(It is massive). So in the morning I will nip out and get some Covent Garden soups.Just need to decide what kind to get.
Easy meal again tonight.Ready Meals.James has a Currry,Chris a fish pie :-P,and me a Mac and Cheese :-D. The boys don't know ,but there is no pudding tonight. They will have to make do with a Yoghurt.

Thomas caught a bird today :-S :-S.I didn't see it but Chris did.He tried to get it off him but Thomas ran off under the hedge with it :-(

Frank did your package arrive yesterday? We have had 3 deliveries today.2 from Parcel Force and one Hermes. The best one was a box of wines from M&S :-D.We will put that one away for Xmas.I think it was a mix of Reds and Whtes.

The traffic noise from the A14 is very loud now.Rain must be on the way.

Oh has changed my pc screen to one a little bigger but it is so bright I am not sure if I like it. He has bought himself a new one and I am getting one for Christmas the same.
He has toned it down a bit but is still fiddleing with his new one so I have to wait. Also when I scroll down the page on here the writing fafdes. Makes your eyes go funny... :-S

Those accidents could be caused by the wet leaves on the road. Oh is always telling me to be careful when the leaves have fallen.

Naughty Thomas having a bird. Smack btm for him. His job is mice not birds.

I only went a little way into the woods Frank as I found what I was looking for at the sides of the road on the bank where the wind had blown branches down. They are mostly fir woods here but in one place there was a huge Christmas tree that had snapped off. Must have been about 18 foot high laying on the ground. I had a few bits off that too but that kind drops too quickly for me to use in the wreaths and its darned prickly too.

Jane

Jane Report 2 Dec 2015 18:18

Frank it certainly hasn't been cold today.I find myself still going out in the clothes I wore in the summer !!!!.It doesn't feel right though to be so mild for December.I would like to wake up to a nice cold crisp morning with blue sky..Then a bit of snow just in time for Xmas :-D.

We haven't heard from Harry now for ages.I wonder if he has made the move to Wales now? He did say he had sold the house.

Evening all,

It's been a really nice day here ,i hung my washing out and in the sun and with the nice blow they all got dry .

I'am sorry it was a no sale again Gill, there's not much you can do about the street , is it all property's like yours ? or are some of them not so tidy .
Would it be better if the agent showed people round ,maybe your telling the people a bit to much if you know what i mean, i don't mean that your not doing it properly but maybe getting the agent to have a go might get a result for you , do you have to pay extra for that though ?

I'am sure Matteo will soon settle Fiona ,Lacey was like that for a while but now she goes trotting in and waves at the window .
It's all practicing for their nativity here too ,Lacey is a Star and Katie is an Angel ,DIL was pleased as she has those costumes as Katie was a star last year and Chelsea was the Angel.

So Thomas is getting the birds !! naughty boy ,perhaps he's got rid of all the mice so now it's back to the birds .
Your poor old hip Jane , do you think you need a hip replacement ? i know how hubby was before he had his hips done ,he found it hard to cope with the pain .
I went to see my sister today she had her hospital appointment yesterday to see the surgeon about her knee ,he told her there was good news and bad ,the good being that he thought she might only need a part knee replacement ,the bad news was he doesn't do part knees, so she will need to see another surgeon now which means waiting for another appointment which probably won't be before christmas now !!

The Norfolk and Norwich hospital was on black alert at the weekend , at one stage eighteen ambulances were queuing outside .

We booked our christmas lunch out today ,we usually go out with sister and BIL for an evening meal but we thought we'd go out for lunch for a change .
Hubby has the day off tomorrow so we're off to Makro to stock up again ,we usually get things for son and DIL which helps them out a bit .
I see the Yorkshire tea is on offer again 1200 T bags for £12-99 :-D

It's not really that cold here although we have lit the fire just to take the chill of the room ,last night i had to have the bedroom window open as i felt so hot ,i carn't sleep if i'am too hot .

On House Swap I recall many left their car the use of the swappers with local road maps and food in the fridge and or larder.
No doubt those involved would advise their home and cat insurers. :-D

All motorists take special care in this weather and be aware there may now be people driving who are over the limit. Make sure your spare tyre is inflated and your mobile charged in case you need it.

Sorry to hear your hip is painful again Jane. My cats sometimes kill a bird and for that reason I don't put birds seed and nuts out anymore, the most upsetting one was a robin.

I found one of the goldfish had died in the bottom pond this morning so had to get it out with a net even that makes me sad.

Sorry to hear you have another no sale Gill, it's strange viewers saying it's the road
is it busy with traffic? When we were house hunting before we purchased this one, before arranging a viewing we always went and had a look at the outside and the surrounding area, I remember one was right on top of a children's play area so that was a no go. How far away from your present location are you hoping to move to?

Mandy, my friend a hairdresser came to put some low lights in my hair this morning,
she cuts Paul, Richard, Abbie and Becky's as well about every six weeks.

I wonder what the outcome of the Syrian vote will be this evening?

We are watching medieval murder mysteries at the moment, this week its about Amy, Robert Dudley's wife who supposedly fell down the stairs.

Annx Report 2 Dec 2015 20:50

Evening All,

I've been busy the last 2 days sorting out a new car. I went to Burton yesterday and had a test drive in the car they have that I want. It was nearly in the dark as well by the time they were ready for me. The price was good (£6150 off the new price as they aren't making any more) but I wanted to check another car in Banbury before I decided as they were unwilling to up their price on my old car and weren't sure they would be allowed to give me free mats and a tankful of fuel without speaking to the manager. I rang Banbury this morning, asked for the sales manager and explained I didn't really want to drive there for them to see my car unless I thought they could better the offer I'd had. They offered me an extra £200 without even seeing my car and agreed to give me the free mats and a tankful of fuel I wanted too. When I said I wasn't sure about the pearlised paint and disguising any stone chips they said they would give the car paint a £300 diamondbrite paint protection for free as well. Anyway, after I'd thought about it a while I decided I'd still prefer the plain white paint and the car I'd already driven, so even though the salesman there said he was off today I took the bull by the horns and rang Burton back and asked for their sales manager. No messing I just asked if he could match the Banbury offer as I wanted their car and he rang me back 10 mins later and said yes!! So I've parted with a deposit today and will sort out the detail tomorrow. OH said 'I don't know, what a minx playing off these men against each other!!' :-D I think I will send the Banbury man a christmas card as he was so obliging even though I didn't buy from him. :-)

OH wants to watch the GP prog I recorded now so I will catch up with the posts tomorrow.

Gillx Report 2 Dec 2015 22:20

You did really well on the car Ann. Do me a favour, don't buy my place will you? I'd end up paying you to take my bungalow, you're that good at negotiating LOL :-D :-D :-D

I don't think there is anything wrong with my street, so I'm not sure what other people are seeing, that I'm not. It's a lovely street with a mix of houses and bungalows, everyone looks after their gardens and the neighbours are a friendly bunch of people. I'm starting to think that maybe it's just the estate agents talk and the people aren't actually saying anything about the street. We've had a few agents over the years and we've never had feedback about the street before.

Signing out now, I'm tired.
See you all tomorrow
Night Night

Annx Report 3 Dec 2015 01:23

I like a bit of negotiating on my cars Gill.......I'm in my element!! lol. When I got my pad of notes out of my bag and put it in front of me on the salesman's desk yesterday he said 'What's that you've got' and then when I grinned and said 'I've been doing my homework' he couldn't keep a straight face either ;-) I had all the facts and figures, the details of the other car for sale and questions to ask all written down ready!, I bet Frank would agree that as long as you are polite, don't waste people's time and are reasonable, a bit of fun and banter helps. When I rang and asked to speak to their sales manager today I told the chap who answered to make sure to tell him I really wanted the car, but that I needed him to leave me a bit more money in my pocket as well, which made him laugh. I think it must be the way I say things because it doesn't look so funny written down.

Your street sounds fine Gill, but perhaps they were just used to something different before. I know when we looked at this place, I wasn't sure with it being in a close. I wondered if it would be gossipy or that I would feel watched when I went out on the front. I needn't have worried though as the majority of the bungalows have their lounge at the back with bedrooms facing the road. I don't even know the names of the people the other end of the close and there are only 14 bungalows. Thanks for mentioning Denim..........I'm going to get some to surprise him with! What a nuisance you getting a migraine too.

Well I've started my cards at last as I realised it is the last lesson of term at bead class on Friday so I shall need to take some. I shall also need to get food to take as we all bring something usually. I was at the hospital last week so my friend has told me we are doing a nice snowflake necklace this week.

I can just imagine Lacey giving a little wave Mandy and I expect Matteo will be doing the same when he has a bit more confidence. I bet the children get so excited dressing up for the Nativity play. I thought about the Christmas trees you made today as there are some similar star cushions in WW.

I'm glad you are feeling better again Frank and it was the right thing to do to mention it to your doc. I'm just the same as Ros and forget to switch my mobile on at times. I get told off too for the same reason!! :-S

Fancy Chris missing the film Jane and then it getting cancelled! Does that mean he will still get a chance to go and see it before it moves on? I imagine it was the Steve Jobs film which OH liked but I found a bit heavy going. We want to go and see the film Carol sometime this week.

Well I posted last night after Ann's first post and I see it has'nt come up. I wonder if I forgot to post it again before I turned the pc off?

Sounds like you have a very nice deal at the garage in the end then Ann. What colour was the pearlised car? You are a girl for getting a good deal on the cars you two buy. First Gordon's now yours. Good on you I say.

18 is an awful lot in the que at the hospital Mandy. There must have been a rush of accidents or something like that.

Still dull here and a little rain in the air but not much of a wind just a good breeze.

DON'T FORGET THE LIBRARY MEL. :-D :-D :-D

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Another clock watching night for me, 3.00 am when I dropped off and was awake by 7.00.

It was always a great pleasure to go to see my children in the School Nativity. In those days we were allowed to take pictures. It's 12 years next week when Ros went to see Lewis in his Nativity when she had that accident with that German Lorry. Where does the time go. She never got to it, and I had to nurse her for THREE MONTHS after. Then I had my STROKE. So Winter 2003/4 wasn't a good time for us.

My part in the school Nativity was one of the THREE KINGS. I remember singing the song and can still remember all the words.

Talking of children settling down at play/junior school. My old mate Sid told a story of the first day he took his son to school. He came home for lunchtime and when Sid got him ready to go back after lunch. Keith asked "where are we going " when Sid said school. HE KICKED HIM IN THE SHINS AND RAN DOWN THE GARDEN. (sorry)

I hope you enjoy your lunch today Jane, I know it will be indoors with this weather lol

Ros will be home at 1.30 pm not 3.30 as I mentioned. It's a short session today.

I have had a nice long shower, now I need to get shaved and dressed. What do I wear today ??? shorts and T shirt or Trousers and shirt with a light sweater. Decisions, Decisions.

See you all later.
